Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

It's pretty much over now... 10-3 with wins over a bunch of cupcakes...
Woodson would say that's doing his job. Getting the boosters to cough up 6.2 million for Woodson will go down as one of the bigger con jobs I've ever seen. It's truly unreal.

The upper balcony will be spotty until a bigger name program comes into Assembly Hall, then it will be normal.

But I think we’re currently seeing a major shift in the IU fan base where people are not happy at all with the direction of the program. The comments on the official Facebook and Twitter posts are 70-30 negative to positive.

I was about to post the same thing. All I’m reading now is negative comments.

That’s very positive news in the efforts of getting Mike Woodson fired. Need a long losing streak to really get the ball rolling.

So woodsons lock down three point shooting recruite Goode shoots 23% from three this year. Did Woodson even evaluate any of these guys or just take the 6 million and say get me the highest ranked guys you can.

Woodson doesn’t even know his recruits names, he’s too busy golfing or being the King of Indiana.

That is true so basically his subpar assistants went and got or paid these guys to come.

10-3 sounds like a reasonable start on its face. And the staff and the burners will tell you exactly that.

However when you apply eye test, metrics, and common basketball sense to the discussion you quickly realize this isn’t your normal 10-3 start.

Could it be worse? Of course it could. Back when we didn’t know how to cheat to get the best players. We were always 10-30 teams behind from jump and needed extracurriculars to make us better (re:Cignetti). This year we had top ten resources at worst. We paid handsomely to be a good team. We are a 50-70 type team this year, and completely mentally weak, and capable of quitting and getting blown out at the drop of a hat. I hope the players figure out a way to lock in and not completely embarrass themselves.

But mostly, At this point, I’m just hoping we nail the transition.

Mike Woodson basketball is simply ugly, it’s Archie Miller basketball but with expensive athletes. 1-19 from 3 tonight, he sure did try to make it Archie ball.

I feel the way I did that last year of Archie, but I would watch that year because of TJD. There really is no one I want to check out on this team. That says a lot.

There is a reason he has regressed.

Look at who continues to be negative, even on Christmas Eve/Day.
Don’t you have anything better in your life than to be posting about a basketball coach during family time?

You should check to make sure you have an up to date calendar

The last I posted, Tom Crean was the head coach. It can’t have gotten any worse than that.

Of course not. After all the clamoring, we finally got "an IU guy". We spent $10M+ on this team, including the Parasite in Chief and his sleepy sidekick ... what could possibly go wrong?

Likely why Woodson put such a weak schedule together. He would be like 8-5 if he had played last years schedule. He isn't fooling anyone but Kool aid drinkers. Woodson probably needs some injuries soon cause what excuses can he use now that things are about to get real.

Maybe is quinn gets the cooks or Simon's to throw a few more million at these guys by Saturday they would to give us like 5% more effort. Or we could start throwing money on the court during games.

Indiana has one of the most expensive rosters in P4 basketball, yet, they are not currently ranked and have zero signature wins in non conference play.

Pathetic.
It's a top 5 paid roster in the country. It's best in is against a providence team who was without It's best player

Goode brings value whether he’s making shots or not and if you don’t see that I would question if you know what you’re watching. In fact, what Hatton and Goode contributed today really pi$$ed me off because they’re well-coached and they didn’t get that here. Example: When Hatton was guarding high ball screen actions he took 1 jab  step out from the screen before he dropped forcing the ball handler to take 1 more dibble before trying to get downhill and giving his primary 1 more step to recover. He didn’t learn that at IU because Woody doesn’t teach it. If Reneau played it that way it would probably save him a foul a game. He also managed 3 blocks despite being completely landlocked because he’s been taught to reach for the lights when he contests at the rim and so he forces adjustments by guards to finish but he’s not going after every driver from every angle so he’s not putting them into forced rotation the way Ballo does. Again, that’s how he’s been coached, and not here. And watching Goode hunt and fill crack after crack and have himself in perfect shooting position at all times in comparison to Mgbako just hanging out waiting for ball reversal with no prep other than putting his hands up made me want to throw my drink at the screen. Yet again, 1 of them has been really well-coached and knows how to play and 1 of them is just really talented and waits to be fed. This game really got to me because those Winthrop kids absolutely understood their gameplan and what they were attacking and there way too many possesssions where IU flat didn’t.

Goode is smart and well coached but if he’s not hitting shots he gets absolutely bullied on the defensive end. You are right about his movement, him being shot ready, him attempting the right things on D. But in the end it doesn’t matter if your guy can drive you and bully you into a layup every possession. He gets a lot of great looks because he’s well coached but he has to make 3 or 4 of them. The D is bad.

No complaints from Hatton tonight. He was excellent everywhere. I’ve mostly enjoyed his play all season in the little amount of time he gets.
