Amen. Been saying it for years now. The NFL is largely unwatchable and I used to have season tix.

The college basketball situation is only getting worse.

I don't think the NFL is rolling things back. But, college basketball still has a chance.

I'm completely fed up with calls being reviewed. It's reached NFL levels of excessiveness: both time spent watching replay and the number of calls being reviewed. It's the main reason I rarely watch more than a few minutes of any NFL game.

NCAA needs to institute a time limit for review, 30 seconds from when replay starts. It would also be beneficial to emphasize review should be minimized and not the default - as it's become for like every out-of-bounds call.

It's definitely made officiating worse. They rely on it too much. It's a crutch. Shouldn't be any reviews at all until the last 2 minutes of the game.

This reaches its apex during March Madness. I swear every time a ball gets knocked out of bounds, some dude is waving his finger above his head and walking back to his team's bench, trying to goad the refs into reviewing an ordinary play so his team can get a free timeout.

That's another thing, if there is a review or injury or stoppage, players on the court should have to stand on opposite sides of the court. You aren't getting a free timeout with your bench for this.

Which part of this snippet from Mike Woodson's wikipedia page do you find the most hilarious?

Despite playing and learning under well-known, traditional basketball coaches, Woodson embraced "a modern style of play" at Indiana. He implemented "a four-out one-in offensive system that highlights versatile athletes in a free-flowing system" and "made a point to emphasize that he understood the importance of 3-pointers."[24] Woodson also utilizes analytics to help determine player combinations.[24]

I am going to go with the bit about analytics. I don't think anyone who understands numbers or math would like at our analytics and make a rational decision to take four starters out of the game at one time.

I'm lodging a complaint against @southernindianahoosier2 and his screen name.  Whenever I see a post and glance over to see who it's from, my eyes see Southern Idaho and it's very annoying.

Also his location is New York so I boo this also. If it says Southern Indiana it better be some small town like Bloomfield

There’s gotta be zero chance he utilizes analytics lol. I don’t think analytics tells him to shoot the fewest 3s in the conference and the 354th most in the NCAA. Reading the article the Wiki page cites to is hilarious. Basically everything he says in that article is the opposite of what we see on the court.

I wish we would crash the glass like most the other CBB teams I watch. We are a poor shooting team, yet we still just back up on shot attempts. Absolutely losing basketball. Nobody follows their shot except for Mgbako at certain times. Our alternate big doesn’t fight for inside position when the opposite big is going to work.

Ugh.

Someone, somewhere employs the people that finished in the bottom 5% of data analysis.

safe to assume IUBB is one of those employers

Yea 5 star front court and mid major backcourt

Basically every game IU takes a knife into a gun fight at the guard position.   That was evident 2 weeks into the season watching as much college basketball as I did and seeing Mid major teams have better guard play then IU.   Expectations took a nose dive after seeing that.   Good thing about the portal is a team can flip a roster in an off season

Yep and in hoops you only play 5 at once, so a small number of players make a big difference.

We all saw a need all offseason, though to be fair to the staff, it’s worse than expected because a sixth year guy has been worse than any reasonable expectation (even baking in prior volatility).

The staff had a scholarship to give and are fools imo for putting to much faith in x. He had some good games but was never going to be a reliable point guard to lead us to a successful season

Yes, he’s been much better literally his entire career until now and even those better times were up-and-down. They have two other guys who can play point in a pinch and should’ve prioritized any playable combo/2-guard
