Adewale Ogunleye?

Craig Osika also went undrafted (played at IU from 1998-2001) and played four years in the NFL.  Only got into 1 game but was on rosters long enough to get an NFL pension.

I'll ask him.....but I'm sure he's not looking to fund a buyout.  :)

READ. THE. THREAD.
It's Adewale Ogunleye!
Sometimes I quote and respond before reading entire thread. Otherwise going back 100 posts to quote someone isn't worthwhile. And it's worse with Tapatalk lol.

As much as I love the idea of an in-house hire, aren’t we then setting ourselves up for a mediocre ceiling?

The cards 100% stacked against us. There is no tradition to build on, facilities are mediocre and getting bigger, maybe a decent NIL program but how much would football take away from iubb.

If money can be spent on a proven coach, let’s do it. If the reality of the situation is we’ll HAVE to pay inexperience and unproven, at what point does the cost of a buyout become untenable? This is a really tough situation for the athletic department.

I would agree with everything about Justin. I believe he has a house in Brown Co already. I believe he interviewed last summer or the summer before but Allen thought he cussed too much. But he could call plays as the HC

Clearly not enough LEO in him to be impactful for CTA's Big Ten dynasty.

There’s a joke here somewhere about diminishing game attendance and swearing, but I can’t seem to find it.

In contrast look at the zingers that CMW and crew bring to the table - clear correlation b/w language and success in B'ton.

I know.  Was just mentioning as a matter of interest another player that was at IU at that time that also went undrafted and was in the NFL for a while.  I know Osika quite well and the thought of him organizing a buyout on a high school principal's salary struck me funny.

I think with NIL the shift has been away from coach with a proven track record and more toward a coach who could potentially increase recruiting with the ability to bring in NIL.

The problem with an alumni football coach is they still didn’t come from a tradition of winning.  So what’s the point?

Pat Fitzgerald is available.  Has the experience and IU would be an upgrade in terms of facilities, fan base, and ability to get players accepted to school.  Probably comes with a chip on his shoulder too.

I wouldn't mind Fitz.  He has shown he can win with lessor talent.

Northwestern just built an absolutely beautiful new practice facility along Lake Michigan, but I otherwise agree with you.

I like Fitzgerald, but going 1-8 in the Big Ten West 3 of the last 4 years scares me. Did he lose his fire or what?

Some stubbornness on offense coupled with Northwestern Football's water simply finding its level imo.

He did pretty well at NW, but with that hazing scandal I doubt he'd be a candidate for IU.
