Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

I would argue that more would contribute to an NIL fund if they weren't' busy putting together $20M to get rid of the last coach.

I find it incredibly difficult to believe that a donor would be willing to spend large sums of money to make someone go away, but that same donor would not consider contributing to an NIL fund of a capital improvement effort to improve facilities - both are for the benefit of the players and the overall betterment of IU football.

I do agree. I’m excited for this hire to see how serious we are about football. This is Dolson’s second biggest hire. If we can get the new indoor facility and increase the NIL support with a great hire we’ll be cooking!

$20 million donation really doesn't go as far as you would think in terms of NIL -- unless the money is renewable, it's just a short term fix.  It was noted that Sorsby was hearing numbers between $400,000 and $600,000 for programs looking at him in the portal.  Over three years that's around 1.5 million for one player.  Reports are coming out that football NIL money was doubling in its second year of being legal compared to the first.

Maybe so... but still, an extra $20M in an NIL fund is better spent helping there rather than constantly being thrown down the "coach, just go away" hole.

Anyone else having flashbacks to anything in the mid 00’s about possibly hiring someone with dirty laundry? If we manage to Sampson ourselves with football…

Cannot fathom there’s even the slightest appetite for a coach with skeletons or even fresh bodies falling out of their closet.

The dream scenario is IU hires Tom Herman and he gets to work right away and lands Danny O’Neil. May not be the best season next year but glimmers of hope.

If the new coach can provide evidence that he can organize a college level practice, maybe.

Probably due, at least in part, to the baggage that Gruden and Fitzgerald bring... but I also question Dolson's ability to get much done (apart from crapping his pants).

Take away Fitzgerald’s baggage.
After years of establishing his program (and I was big fan) in the very weak West division he won one conference game in three of his last four seasons. 1-8 in 3/4 last years.  Based on that maybe we should rehire Allen…..LOL.

I think 4 interviews have been had, with more going on today. So far 3 head coaches and one coordinator.

I would be ok with Candle and him bringing his starting QB. Justin Frye has a lot of support from former players.

Fitzgerald is out. This is just the info I have heard not saying it's 100% correct. Just passing along

Yes quoting myself. All interviews by Zoom. 8 people total should get interviews. No reason to track planes till the end of the week. Not saying people will be coming to Bloomington but finalist will be in-person interviews somewhere.

IDK.  Seems like too many.  Had plenty of time to create and vet a short list.
