jermhoosierfan Posted January 8 Posted January 8 https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47550276/indiana-curt-cignetti-explains-stoic-sideline-presence Interesting tidbits about Cig. The first time he went to the College Football HOF and see his dad's stuff in there. Pagoda 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I really like stoic sideline coaches setting the tone for the team. Never too high, never too low. If you win celebrate after the clock hits 00:00. Animated coaches can win, I just don’t like watching the leader of the team appear out of control. ALASKA HOOSIER, str8baller, southsidehoosier and 2 others 5 Quote

Don’t give away the secret sauce y’all! j/k With stuff like this Cig could write out everything he considers, give it to someone else, and they still wouldn’t be able to do it. I’m pretty sure his experience and eye can’t really be replicated. ALASKA HOOSIER, go iu bb and jermhoosierfan 3 Quote

Some of what he also learned was from Saban as explained in the article which really helped him out. Quote

go iu bb Posted January 10 Posted January 10 If (when) we win the National Championship, does a movie get made about Cignetti or IU football? He takes over the program with the most losses in college history and immediately turns them into a powerhouse. Sounds like the type of story Hollywood loves to tell. skhoosier2 1 Quote

I think the story gets framed around Mendoza tbh. You would want to focus on a single season and Mendozas arc over the course of this season is fairytale Quote

I heard Angelo Pizzo on a podcast and he thought it needed more time before something should be done. Not that he was thinking the story was not worthy but time would help it become more nostalgic perhaps. He did say some in his circle had been talking about it as a documentary. Personally I could see it coming together from 3 angles. Indiana's historically poor performance, Mendoza's being overlooked and Cig toiling away at lower levels. Build the story of each before bringing them together for this magical run. go iu bb and skhoosier2 2 Quote

I'd prefer an IU Football approach to this. Where it covers 3 or 4 different plot lines. Think something like a Pulp Fiction or Magnolia style of movie. The main characters represents Cig and staff, players (Aiden Fisher's personal story is golden for the screen), "top brass" (this could be a NIL donor or admin), and the fanbase (I'm available if the screenwriters need a story). But if I had to guess, the more mainstream approach would be focused on Coach Cig. Quote

I agree, I just thought it was interesting how some say he is cheating and others are saying he is the next great thing and tied to every open job out there. Winning brings out the best and worst in other fan bases and the media, LOL. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Yup, further the article ends by saying "it's a stretch." Cig said in his video earlier this year that he is "retiring as a Hoosier." That's about as definitive as one can get about their coaching future. Artie86, Pagoda, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote

Cig is so obviously a CFB lifer, this NFL suggestion gave me zero pause. Plus like you noted Cig has made it very clear he’s staying here. He would be an interesting NFL coach. His special sauce of talent ID, development, etc. may not apply as much. The culture aspect may be tougher to implement too. But the scheme stuff would probably work. I dunno — we’ll never find out though, which is good. Quote
