Pawl is a joke but in an odd way he doesn’t bother me too much.  He’s always played a character and he won’t break character because that’s his bit and how he gets attention.  He’s not a serious CFB analyst.  No one really respects him.  He’s an act and probably doesn’t believe what he says, and that doesn’t bother him.

What I do have an issue with is people influential in the CFB world like Kirk, who are supposed to be impartial, singling us out like he did last year.  Or the way Jimmy Sexton got the GameDay crew to defend Lane’s asshat behavior.  That’s trash.

He’ll never actually come out and say it. Whatever the story is would love to hear it, but Saban and the SEC crowd are just not down with Cig. Would think they would eat up some blue collar football lifer who worked himself up from the absolute bottom but for whatever reason that’s just not the deal here.

Reasons:

1) He's not at an $EC school

2) Not only is he not at an $EC school, he's at the school which had the most losses in FBS history so even now they consider it a fluke

I was floored when Pat called Lane out yesterday. Completely stepped out of the fantasy land that the other four were living in and went off for a minute.

Good for Pat.  One independent person there.

The whole thing was insane.

I know everyone knows this, but Lane coaching Ole Miss while working as the head coach of LSU was a 100% absolute non-starter.  It’s one of the most absurdly conflicted unworkable arrangements imaginable.

Obviously Lane said he would do both jobs to save face while knowing it would never happen.  I can’t believe the GameDay crew and some CFB media gave him cover on this one.  So pathetic.  Especially Saban, who was behind the scenes advising him to go to LSU.

I am so over that SEC hack. He's a shill, and will never give any non-SEC team its due.

They will be able to kick some SEC butt in the Rose Bowl on New Years as Alabama and Oklahoma will play for a chance to lose to the HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS!!!

My impression is him leaving Alabama to coach at IUP was not something he agreed with. Saban strikes me as a guy who if he doesn’t agree with your choices you are basically dead to him

This may be, honest to God, the dumbest single post on a site that’s built for that very purpose. Sure, Cig’s done well, but he hasn’t had to overcome the same insurmountable barriers as….. Marcus Freeman.

Always gonna be lots of trolling/baiting posts on X or Facebook.

For me they are not worth the time it took to read them.

ND fans really don't like being left out.  There are couple of people on FB I know who are threatening to delete people from their friends list if they say anything bad about ND being left out.  I personally think it is hilarious how butt hurt they have gotten, and then take their ball and go home.

Sports Illustrated isn't what it used to be -- for years, I'd eagerly await its arrival and pretty much read it from cover to cover each week -- but it continues to name a Sportsman/person/woman of the Year. Doesn't mean as much as it once did, but still ...

Two years ago, they picked Deon for "revitalizing" Colorado football. Sorry Prime -- but what you did is a spec of sand on a beach compared with what Cigs has done.

I still haven't forgiven them for awarding LeBron for the SECOND time in 2016 rather than my beloved Cubbies, who broke a historic 108-year title drought. They can begin to work their way back into my good graces by presenting the 2025 award to the only worthy recipient ...

I took a pretty long break from social media, including the board...but I couldn't stay away and not see what my fellow BTB diehards are saying...

Just an unbelievable win...got to experience it with my family, shed tears...will remember it forever.

Build Cig a statue but also...give Haines a billion dollars a year and a promise that the keys are his when Cig retires.

Let's win a rose bowl, keep marching and bring a natty back to Bloomington!

Love the Haines idea but there are problems. 1) Cig has enough energy and desire to kick @$$ that he may coach til 80 (on board with that btw). 2) Even if Haines leaves and he wants the IU job some day he could most likely still come back and get it. 3) He's way too good to remain as a coordinator for that long. Appreciate him while he's still here

On a bright note I have full trust in Cig's ability to evaluate people and make a great replacement hire if/ when that time comes.
