We are the home town school. We will be putting nationally competitive teams on the floor. We are trying to counter Hurley's pitch of "Come play a key role on the two time national champion with the universally agreed-upon best coaching in the country." There's no "more effort/let's fight harder" solution. It's Mullins' decision and it's clearly a tough one for an 17/18 year old to make. More times than not if there's two schools that are neck and neck in a recruitment the home school wins out. Especially if family members want you at that school. Not saying that will happen here but it's something to think about. hoosierfan6157, thebigweave and lillurk 3 Quote

If I were betting in Vegas and got any odds inducement for UConn? I'd bet UConn. 50% IU, 45% UConn, 5% UNC Home Jersey, Banksyrules and lillurk 3 Quote

No, just my reaction to what he said about each program. Rabjohns asked him why each team made his final 3 and the only real advantage IU has is proximity to his home. He said he has a good relationship with each coaching staff. When it came to the offenses he said IU is changing how they run the offense. The other two can actually show him how he fits into their system that they have ran for years. Stuhoo 1 Quote

So if he had said "The IU fan base is crazy. You can’t beat that fan base. It’s very passionate. I think that’s the thing that sticks out the most. And obviously Coach Woodson is an NBA coach and that’s where I want to be” you'd feel better? Because that's what Haralson said prior to his final decision. These kids are constantly asked on the fly about their recruiting thoughts. They are 17 or 18, and are not calibrating their answers so that message board posters can get an accurate read on the tea leaves. jepwatso, 94Bulldog, go iu bb and 4 others 7 Quote

Like I said earlier if all you went by is this interview then that is how I see the order of the schools. Obviously there is way more into a recruitment than 1 interview and I never said that is how I see this recruitment ending Stuhoo and SlammySammy 2 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 UConn went 4 deep today according to Rabjohns. IU is in a recruiting battle with the back to back champs and hottest coach on the planet. Pretty simple he has some good options. Stay close to home and be a hometown hero for his home state or play for the hottest program in college basketball. If IU wins out in this recruitment then their 2 2025 kids would be recruiting wins against both of the teams that played in the national championship game. Don’t care if they are in state kids that would be saying something despite where the program was last year. If Mullins goes to UConn then you move on knowing IU did everything late in this recruitment to land him. You could say they should have went all earlier but that didn’t happen. I am because those 2 time national champions lost a ton of proven talent/ production and they didn't replace it with 100% guaranteed production. The amount of roster turnover they had is hard to do and not miss a beat. Quote

I’d like to see them fall off a bit because I guarantee Hurley is a absolute pain in the @$$ to play for when things don’t go well.
