My guess is he either plays two years in OTE or after he finishes this season, he plays in G-League Ignite for a year.  

OTE offers two options for players coming in prior to graduation:  they can accept a minimum salary of $100,000 (highest last year was $500,000) or they can forgo the salary and remain college eligible.  My money would be on him going to OTE for one year and if he does well, playing for G-League Ignite for a year.

Rumor on the Purdue GBI board was that the whole IU/Purdue transfer rumor was Catchings considering forgoing his senior year of hs, graduating early, and going to IU.  Rumor was he was approached about that.  Sounds like that is what Catchings wanted to do but his family nixed it.  The fact that he's going to OTE in my opinion says he is looking for a route other than Purdue.
