Popular Post Stuhoo Posted February 17, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2023 Thought we’d start a special thread for our senior ahead of her senior night. Here’s to Grace Berger, leader of the Hoosiers and in my humble opinion the single most outstanding basketball player in the history of Indiana Women’s Basketball. As an alum and a proud Hoosier fan, it is a pleasure and a true honor to watch her play for the glory of old IU. LockdownD, JerryYeagley23, Class of '66 Old Fart and 8 others 9 2 Quote
LockdownD Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Grace Berger has the sweetest jump shot in college basketball. Thanks for bringing your talents to Indiana. colonel06, Stuhoo, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I've been saying this for two seasons now: Grace Berger is the most skilled and smartest IU basketball player -- regardless of gender. Obviously, she can't come anywhere near to matching the athleticism of any of the men -- but IMO, her skills and smarts exceed any of them. triple, ALASKA HOOSIER, Banksyrules and 4 others 7 Quote
TTT Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Grace B. brings quiet Love, Joy, and Peace Winning to IU Ladies Basketball Program as a distinguished student athlete at Indiana University. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
GoHoosiers1996 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 She might the most skilled and smartest women's basketball player in the country. I know that Boston and Clark get a lot of hype, but if I’m a WNBA GM, I would take her in the first round, no questions asked. Her steady and smart play remind me of 3 IU men’s greats - Cheney, Bailey, and Alford. Stuhoo, ALASKA HOOSIER and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote
Popular Post LamarCheeks Posted February 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 20, 2023 "I wasn't born a Hoosier, but now, I can say without a doubt that I will be a Hoosier for life." Indeed you will, Grace. HoosierAloha, Stuhoo, Class of '66 Old Fart and 12 others 13 2 Quote
GoHoosiers1996 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Thank you for posting that! I did not know that was out there. Wow, what a powerful piece. What a special player, what a special team! ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Cal Cheaney has been my favorite Hoosiers basketball player since he donned the candy stripes. Grace Berger might be No. 2. Hard to read this story without getting a little misty-eyed. What a special player and special person. She will be missed. Thanks, Grace -- for five fantastic seasons. Demo Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Terrific player. Exemplary Rep for the school. Great kid and everything about her screams great future. Thank you, Grace Side note: Raising a kid like her isn’t accidental. Her parents should give classes. LamarCheeks, TTT, ALASKA HOOSIER and 4 others 7 Quote

bigrod Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Whenever I watched her, I was just always impressed by her toughness, both mentally and physically. She's the kind of player that can will her team to victory. Quite honestly, she's one of the players that made me start paying attention to women's basketball. I'll miss watching her play for IU. Stuhoo Posted March 21, 2023 Author Posted March 21, 2023 One of the all time great Hoosiers in any sport. She’s in the Quinn Buckner, Calbert Cheaney, Lily King, Anthony Thompson, Steve Alford, Isiah Thomas, Mark Spitz stratosphere. ALASKA HOOSIER, cthomas, LamarCheeks and 4 others 7 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted in the game thread but absolutely worth repeating— saddened she had to go out like that but really appreciative of all she brought to IU - my favorite IU women’s player all time by a country mile, and really one of my favorite all time IU players. Toughness, floor vision, killer instinct, poise, class, exceptional skill, a facilitator and a scorer and often the soul of the team. Thank you for playing for IU ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 What more can I say that you all haven’t? Not much. I watched as many IUWBB games as I could over the past 4-5 years. Grace Berger’s toughness and skill was always on display. She continues the recent trend of phenomenal student athletes that IUWBB has graduated that we as fans and Alumni can be incredibly proud of. TheWatShot Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I just can't get over her last two shots. One was an airball and the other clanged off the back of the rim. I was certain both were going in when she shot them, and it was going to be another addition to her legacy. Still can't believe it ended like this. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Todd41 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 A period of time is not defined by individual moments but how you handle yourself over the connected moments. I have never meet Grace personally but I have read quotes from those that have met her briefly or over an extended time and what has always been true is that Grace has been more to others than to herself. Her parents could never have realized that a name would be more fitting than Grace. jepwatso and LamarCheeks 2 Quote
mamasa Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 As many athletes that I’ve seen move on from IU in my 51 years, I think Grace is the one that is most impactful for me. Not flashy, not confrontational, just Grace. pappy1865, Todd41 and TTT 3 Quote
