Literally what I'm doing right now. I don't know why I'm anxious watching the 2nd half even though I know the outcome.

Ha, right there with you.

— Malik has stood out to me even more in the second half. He came in and immediately stopped the bleeding inside, 2 big stops in a row, then when PU had another mini run going he did it again and then got great position, read the back door play for TJD and executed a sweet lob to him rught past Edey.
He’s moving more fluidly now, avoided fouling, i think he’s getting the college speed and defensive reads down, going to be a beast next season.

So paused playback to type the above in second. A bit later When PU cut it to 4 on a three, JHS got it to Malik on the right side, and he went right at Edey and used his hook shot for another key score. Gamer

I thought the same thing. Announcing what they announced just baits that into happening. I would totally do that at Mackey. Would be worth being kicked out. I have never directly helped IU win a game....that would for sure be my only chance

In a way I feel like every iu fan in attendance yesterday helped iu win. Crowed played a factor in energizing iu and disrupting what purdue was trying to do especially first half

How about “two steps forward, one step back?”

Because that’s exactly what we’ve been doing since Mike Woodson became head coach.

It’s no step forward if IU doesn’t build on momentum

The entire Archie era with no tourney, to 9-11 in conference with a tourney barely, to 7-5 and top 20-ish. With all four freshman showing real signs of being key pieces.

In my opinion? If you cannot see the current trajectory of the program then what does it take to be satisfied?

When did I say I’m not happy with the trajectory of the program? I’m happy as hell that Woodson took them back to the NCAA tournament his first season. I’m happy as hell they beat Purdue for a second consecutive year. I just want consistency for a change. If IU wants to be a powerhouse once again, they can’t continue the trend of big wins followed by head scratching losses. That’s all

Hopefully NIL will help in convincing him to stay another year. Have some cash in his pocket, enjoy college life another year, keep improving his game, definitely be BMOC next year... one can only hope. I really like his game. TJD stayed when everyone thought he was leaving...maybe Woody can keep him in Bloomington.

As painful as it may be next season, if JHS goes to the league after one season and is drafted in the mid-first round this may actually help the program longterm.  CMW and staff can showcase how they were able take a borderline McDonald's AA and make him a 1st rounder in one season of development in the system.  Have to imagine this message would resonate with young men ranked in the 20's-40's, e.g. Liam McNeely.

100%. We were great and I think for sure helped and provided a lift in the first half and down the stretch.

No coaching experience here.  Just a huge fan of Indiana basketball.

I am not scratching my head if and when IU loses after a big game. Severely disappointing, yes.  But it is usually clear why they lose.

Right now they are in the conference games.  Which games did they lose recently?   On the road?  Is it tough on the road in the B1G?  With a freshman point guard that is in an opponent's arena for the first time.  Just look at Purdue's freshman guards in the first half yesterday.  Stunned and turning over the ball and not getting the ball into the offense quickly.

Parallels could be drawn with our shooters.  Except that they are not all freshmen.  It is tough to shoot and hit 3s in an opponent's arena.  And teams do really get up for games at home.

Unless the team has learned to refuse to lose even while on the road.  There are just so many keys to obtain these excellent results that we all seek on the courts.

Part of that is to have a winning culture.  And upperclassmen that have vast experience in most of the positions.  And enough depth on the bench to overcome a player who is injured or not playing well.  Recruiting is so very competitive and changing year to year.

I graduated not only from IU but also UW.  Live in Ohio now.  My brothers graduated from Purdue.  I worked with graduates of Notre Dame, Dayton, Illinois, Penn State, etc.  Lived on the east coast for years. A SIL graduated from both IU and ugh Rutgers.   Gives one a great perspective on just how tough obtaining a great coach and players and putting together a program and infrastructure to attain excellence is.

That other team wants to win just as much as we do.  Some really great coach once said:  The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win.

Trying to remember who said that...jeez...and...something, something, mental over physical...

Great win.

Can’t go back in time but the Iowa and Northwestern games still make me a bit ill. On the other hand, going into the season I had concerns about our perimeter. If you had told me then that X would miss a ton of time and that Bates would not emerge as a consistent threat I wouldn’t have been surprised if we were 5-7 at this point.  It understandably took a few games to adjust without X, JHS is very good but needs to get more consistent (JHS is talented but let’s not forget we have a freshman leading us at the point) and kudos for Trey for his improvement.

Rutgers has punked us numerous times lately :(  Looking forward to us returning the favor on Wednesday!

I think exactly the opposite!

The Gunn family constantly posts social media about how great it is to be part of the Hoosier family and how they wouldn’t want it any other way.

Ive read their stuff and to me they are 100%, completely, without complaint or hesitation, all in and so is CJ.

I had a friend who spoke to CJ’s dad before the Illinois game and he got the impression CJ is not happy here either. I’m hoping he knows there is a lot of playing time up for grab’s next season plus more NIL money.

NIL won't cover for lottery pick money.  If he is guaranteed a lottery spot, he should go.  That guaranteed money is life changing and an injury can mess that all up.  We were all holding our breath when he awkwardly went down, imagine if that was some weird leg injury.  I have no idea what the NBA wants, so hope he is back next year.  However, if he is a lottery pick he has to go.
I agree with all that...but I can hope lol. Not sure he's a lottery pick yet.

I mean if it’s off the court stuff, I guess but if he expects to be getting more time as a freshman on a top 25 team, that could indicate the problems. And if so, maybe best for all parties. He’s been given chances to earn more PT and to say the least the shots aren’t falling. Plus he’s a gunner trying to prove himself.

I’d like to hope he focuses on being a great teammate and still taking advantage of his PT, trying to break through.

We lose TJD, X, Kopp, Race for sure.

We likely lose JHS to draft, Duncomb to transfer.

That’s 6 and probably 1 more or so. We have 2 recruits. Next season will be a mash unit. Curious to see what Nil can put together. It’s going to be an adventure.

Do you get the impression that the staff are very conservative with playing the young freshman? I get Malik or JHS playing but for the sake of development do you think they hold the others back a bit?

In my dream world we get Derik Queen to reclass to 2023, JHS comes back, and Connor Essegian transfers in from Wisconsin.

That would be a pretty solid unit with Reneau, Geronimo, and Galloway.

I return for a 5th year and go from 6’0 to 7’2 285 pounds
