Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB @ Rutgers - Saturday, 12/3/22 @ 4:00 on BTN

I didn't say anything about $. They straight up take our lunch. Punch us in the mouth and rip the PB&J from our lunch pail.

Curious though was there something with the 48 cents or just a random # you used?

I added the money and the specific number because it was all the points they allowed us.

Early in the season....we weren't going undefeated. Maybe a loss on the road will keep the team humble and working hard. Nothing get a team's attention more than a loss. I am hoping they come out focused the next few games and put together another string of Ws.

JHS is great but he’s not a shooter. Never has been. Gunn committed when Archie was the coach and isn’t good enough to play right now.

And Kopp?? And XJ? (Our second best shooter)

All Woody has done is try and address shooting.

I don't think anyone expected to go undefeated.  I expected a tough game, I didn't expect them to drop their shorts and leave a steaming fresh one on the floor.

How much of difference would JHS made?

He takes a lot of pressure off X. Its hard being the only solid or better perimeter creator on a team. He has his flaws, real nad shooter. But on ball creation gets overlooked too much, and it shouldn't

Thing is, we should easily be able to survive giving up 63 on the road. We should never be scoring 48. That was so Archie of us.

Definitely felt like that was an Archie team on the floor. Not an ounce of toughness. If any of them listened to the Geo Baker sound bite and then followed up with that…..yikes. If we proved anything it’s that Geo’s statement wasn’t strong enough. Hopefully this team is different and can move on quickly.

Crean also had a guy switch shooting hands in between seasons and never found a point forward he didn't like. Really want to go back to that?

Im not saying that. It’s just ridiculous IU hasn’t had a winning record in the B1G in 6 years and none of those teams could shoot. I’d think getting a couple shooters would be helpful.

I think the shots and shooting was fine and will come and go regardless. The problem was just the lack of finding a man when the shot went up. No excuse for Rutgers to get 17 offensive rebounds. The first 12 or 13 came in the first 20 minutes? Calls being made depending on where the game is held in the conference is one thing, but I saw plenty times guys just watching the ball rather than finding a man

And this wasn’t the first game we had issues finding a man to blockout.

What are you talking about? Kopp and XJ were on last year’s team. The team that was 13th in 3pt %. Them being on this year’s team isn’t Woodson “addressing shooting.” The guy who led our team in makes and percentage last year left and we didn’t bring any new shooters in to replace that production. You don’t address an issue by doing nothing to fix it.

It is obvious that IU is not a Top 10 team. They have one shooter--Miller Kopp. The rest are mediocre at best. After IU loses to Arizona and Kansas we will be lucky to be in the Top 20. And Woodson was out-coached. He only knows how to coach a pro style offense. And if the opponent--like Rutgers-- locks them into an old-fashioned college slow down offense they can't compete because of the lack of shooting.

Maybe you weren’t around last year, but Woody brought in Kopp and XJ as transfers.

Agree that rebounding among other things was real bad tonight. But the shooting has to come before it can go.
