Roster construction probably makes it easier to put JG at the 3 some on this squad. The guards who figure to get the bulk of the minutes are average-or-better handlers for their position, and some of the other forwards are pretty good too.

So you can put him out there, say, with the starters, in Kopp’s spot. He can catch-and-shoot, run the baseline for dunks and Orebs, rebound on D…doesn’t have to be a playmaker.

Overall... lots of positives. Aside of XJ's meh game, good stuff.

But we should expect "good" vs this opponent.

Assuming performances continue, depth will be a plus this year.

Race at the 3...? Why? We want to create space and pace not add another player to clog the lane. Ideally, we would have a 3 that could catch and shoot, beat his man off the dribble, and create for others while being able to defend multiple positions. Race at the 3 shouldn't happen with this roster.

And it won’t.

It's like anytime a big man hits a 3 and/or gets a board and pushes it in transition, everyone wants to make them a wing.

Race's advantage is that he can do those things as a big and against other bigs.

But we could have a "size advantage" on the roster with Race at the 3!

JG has a long way to go before he's better at the 3 than the 4 too.

Completely agree, and he has a long way to go on both ends before he's a better 3 than 4. To be clear, I think JG is a really strong defender as a 4 when defending bigs, he struggles to defend on the perimeter against guards/wings on switches.
