Edit: check that. He's going to Golden State. That might be a good spot for him. Don’t love that spot for him. Veteran team trying to win now that puts a premium on passing and even shooting from their bigs. They do like to play small tho, which is good. Depending on what happens with Draymond, that could be a tough place to find a roster spot. Quote

I agree it's kind of a mixed bag for TJD there. They play small and they definitely give rookies opportunity. Downside like you said is they are in win-now mode, as the title window with Steph is rapidly closing. Can he jump Loon and the minutes Green plays at the 5? str8baller 1 Quote

Apparently they were the only team willing to give TJD a 1 year contract rather than a two-way contract. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2023/06/23/iu-star-trayce-jackson-davis-said-no-to-pacers-not-other-way-around/70348734007/?fbclid=IwAR1Tfjl-yyuN2wQPcZ4l7H3Hl9KuYSYMXvRZNdLUxQopCJ5hwWlOXc4qdYc hoosierfan6157, Tom White and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 1 Quote

JimmerNoe Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 How so? The Warriors space the floor better than anyone and have played through Draymond in the high post/PnR quite a bit over the years and allow the big to make passes/reads which Trayce was great at last year. They also have shown willingness to play a 5 who is not a jump shooting threat and Trayce provides excellent rebounding/weak side defensive help which is exactly how they used Looney (who really has no offensive game compared to Trayce). They run and shoot the three at a high clip from the other 4 spots on the floor which makes having an athlete who can rim run at the 5 very important. Also they are in “win now” mode so they aren’t stashing guys/slowly developing them, if he can contribute he will play.More importantly they have a great winning culture (minus last years fight) and gave him a three year NBA contract, not a 2 way. So he is at least giving himself the best chance at some staying power in the league. If he had been drafted elsewhere after like pick 40 he would’ve probably started in the dreaded G League. Demo Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Improved lateral movement and hand discipline will keep him on the floor. Will be pretty floored if he’s not this team’s leading scorer next year. lillurk and Tom White 2 Quote

He'll probably backslide now and then, but the light has already started to turn on. The skill is there, and if you have heard him interviewed, he's just a plain old good guy. I don't see him being a vocal leader, but he should be a 30 minute per game guy. ALASKA HOOSIER, Napleshoosier, lillurk and 1 other 4 Quote

And if he can’t? Therein lies the problem for a 2nd rounder. There are other places he can make the roster and find playing time even though he’s not ready to contribute on a winning nba team. Agree on style which I alluded to in my initial post. I don’t see how you can look at GSW’s roster situation and love the spot for him, personally. Great situation if they can get him in the back end of the rotation though. Quote

I wouldn’t go so far to say I would be floored if he wasn’t. I could see a pretty balanced attack with a few guys around the 10-12ppg mark narrowly led by someone like XJ. Like you though, if I were betting on someone to lead us in scoring next year it would be Reneau. hoosierbgh and Joe_hoopsier 2 Quote

Popular Post go iu bb Posted July 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 6, 2023 TJD got himself a good deal for 4 years with 2 years guaranteed. I don't think he'll be our leading scorer because he hasn't proven he'll be able to stay on the floor. He was very foul prone last year. That was something that was very underrated about TJD, his ability to defend without fouling. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
