Rob Cassidy on Flory at the Pangos Camp.

WHAT HE DID: Binduga didn’t do anything we’ve not seen before, but his rare blend of athleticism, rim-protection, rebounding instincts and smooth scoring in the post allowed him to massively change every game in which he played, even against the top-flight competition he encountered at the Pangos. Binduga knows how he impacts winning and rarely steps outside of the things he does well. That said, he can handle the ball pretty decently in a pinch and is becoming a much better passer. He routinely creates extra possessions on the offensive glass, contorting his body and using elite athleticism to grab rebounds even when opponents seem to have position on him. He averaged 13.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in four camp games, but managed to have an impact that went beyond even those stats as he altered or blocked countless shots in each contest.

RECRUITMENT: Cincinnati has long thought to hold a slight edge in Bidunga’s recruitment, but Kentucky and Indiana - and, to a lesser extent Michigan - should also be monitored.

It appears Auburn was considered the leader until VERY recently. Cincy is in the rear view a bit. Dukes recent involvement makes me think they’ve pushed ahead.

This is one of those recruitments where everyone's got an opinion but the truth is no one truly knows where this winds up. We've definitely put forth the best effort that I could imagine to show him what we have to offer. It's all up to him to decide whether that's what he wants or not.

Yep, it IU doesn't land him it won't be due to lack of effort.

I don't know what else that Flory needs to see from IU for him to not be real interested in IU.  He has been here for plenty of visits and seems close to Cupps. I don't know what a Howard and UM would have to offer that is better than IU. Besides the connection with UC I don't see the draw of them.

I'm not aiming this at anyone specifically FYI . . .

Maybe Flory goes to Cincinnati, but some people talk like it's a foregone conclusion. The Adams family helped develop A-Hope many years ago, and really good to mediocre talent has come through the US and landed at college basketball programs across the country. There's no reason to believe Flory is a lock for UC. Again, maybe he goes there, but it's not certain.

According to Rupp Rafters, Bidunga has informed them that he is no longer considering them and will not be visiting them.  Sounds like he is visiting Duke, which IMO is the team to worry about.

He is going to go to Duke unless something crazy happens.  This one is pretty much wrapped up

It sure seems that way. Crazy disappointing but what can you do. I think he’s my favorite recruit in the class.

Hopefully the Queen push can payoff. Maybe door opens for Ngongba a little as he was considered a Duke favorite.

This recruitment has been hard to read at times so there could certainly be details and previous efforts from Duke I'm not aware of, but it pretty much sounds like they showed up to the party at the 11th hour and said "Duke's here" and immediately went to the front of the line.  I won't be sad if that level of clout dissipates under the new regime there, as it seems to already have a little bit at UNC.

I’m starting to feel a bit tired of the recruitment, TBO…. If he comes to IU, absolutely awesome!…. I know he’s a ‘24 recruit, but good grief, I feel like this thing has dragged out forever. JMO.

I don’t think it will last long

Idk, Coach K and Nike still rule the sport from its innermost core.  Until something disrupts that balance or Duke falls off in getting guys to the league or losing it will continue, imo.

I believe Scheyer wants to be a little less 1NDone so that is an interesting wrinkle.

Seeing UK’s off-season has certainly brought a smile to my face.  But it might only strengthen Duke’s grasp for a couple more seasons.
