In Archie Miller's defense, I always thought IU was really good against zones the last 4 years.

Think about how much better it would have been if Archie had 3point shooters. Or maybe the lack of 3 point shooters is what made it work - players knew they couldn't just stand around the perimeter

One thing we haven’t seen yet is a tighter rotation. I would like to see TJD and XJ play 35 minutes - barring foul trouble they should be able to do that. They’re 21 years old in the prime of their fitness lives… no need to play Lander/Phinisee/Durr major minutes

Rotation was tighter vs Marshall. I think that’s exactly what we end up seeing happen as games get tough and hopefully players separate.

Yep although we have to find a way to play TJD a little less 37 minutes is a bit too much.  Like to get him down to 34 a night.

What if, just to be an a-hole, Woody comes out in a 2-3 and stares down the sidelines licking his chops until the under-16 timeout?

I would absolutely love it.

So far we've been able to rest him in a few games that were blowouts which helps some, but yes, he did play 37 against Eastern Michigan, St. John's, and Marshall.  What was interesting to me is that playing that number of minutes didn't seem to affect his play.  Also interesting that in the 111 minutes against those teams, he only committed a total of 2 fouls and blocked 10 shots, so it wasn't like he was resting or not moving his feet on defense.

Yep he’s definitely improved his conditioning. I definitely don’t want him to wear down in the big ten though

I have to disagree a little on the minutes effecting his play. I was at the Marshall game, and late in the second half he was starting to show some signs of being tired. There were a few plays where he seemed to be a little slow jumping and getting set defensively, luckily he didn't get slapped with a foul during this time as Bo Boroski was ready to call every ridiculous ticky tack foul he could imagine. Although it only occurred on a few plays as it seemed he caught a second wind and continued his scoring onslaught.

Worth pointing out that Syracuse has been among the elite free throw shooting teams so far this year -- hitting 79% (92 of 117).

It is.  And Indiana has not been (85-127 for 66%).  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around why Indiana teams have struggled for so long from the line.  It's frustrating, and it always makes close games much more nerve wrecking.

So I have a number of questions about Syracuse.  Why did Syracuse lose against Colgate?  Why is Syracuse seeming to play up and down?  Which Syracuse will IU be playing tonight?  What happens to Coach JB if Syracuse loses the next 3 games in a row making them 3 - 6?   Should I take the over or the under?

Cuse lost to Colgate because they hit like 17 threes in the game.  For many years now  Cuse has played up and down.  It’s a running joke in the bracketology world.   Cuse will be on the bubble barely get in and make a run to the final 4 as a 11 seed or 10 seed.    No idea which team IU gets tonight.  Nothing will happen to JB if he loses the next 3 because he is a hall of fame coach and will probably get it turned around later in the year.   I don’t gamble so I can’t help you on that one

I think I have answers:

  1. Why did Syracuse lose against Colgate? Because their defense against an absolute crap team was horrendous, and that crap team started to get very confident from three and scored 100 against Cuse.
  2. Why is Syracuse seeming to play up and down? Up and down? Better described as mainly down. They are 3-3, with their three wins against 3-3 Drexel, 2-4 Lafayette of Pa., and 2-5 Arizona State.
  3. Which Syracuse will IU be playing tonight? Hopefully the same one that hasn't beaten a decent team all year.
  4. What happens to Coach JB if Syracuse loses the next 3 games in a row making them 3 - 6? It may finally be time to start organizing the Jim Boeheim retirement tour.
  5. Should I take the over or the under? Yes.

Ahhhh Syracuse. The team that stopped us from hanging #6.

The team that made us look like fools in 2013.

Let's see how great our passing and shooting are tonight against the 2-3 Zone.
