to be fair, he didn't give a number amount and used 250K/550K as an example.

I saw articles stating it would take a million bucks. Its who has the deeper pockets now for the top players.

NGW showed us (unintentionally) that looking at social media follows isn't a good predictor of the school which will be selected.

On3 uses social media + trending sites for predictions and they haven’t been terribly accurate.  Everything keeps evolving and social media means probably less than it did even a year ago

Kids know people are looking at their social media.  Anyone really wanting things to be a surprise isn't letting the cat out of the bag that way.
