We were just good enough last year that we cant sneak up on anyone this year. 5-7.

Yep, not to mention that Rutgers, MD, MSU and PU, which are teams we felt pretty good about beating pre-season, are all better than we expected.

A much needed weekend off to heal up injuries and address major issues with the front 5.

Hopefully this "bye" turns things around.  I got my heart set on going bowling.

We have eight games left and need four wins. Of those eight, I feel confident about one, up in the air about three, and not confident about four. I don’t think I see four wins on our remaining schedule. Rutgers/Maryland/Purdue are all winnable, but I think we’ll lose at least one of those. MSU is the most winnable of the four I don’t feel good about. There’s a path to six wins but we’d need to play much better than we have thus far.

Either way, it’s really disappointing that we’re once again just hoping to get to six wins after all the offseason hype. I predict we finish 5-7.

thought before the season 6-7 wins was probably the ceiling and still do--I also "predict" that there will be off-season changes to the staff (duh) and, if IU misses out on a bowl due to a loss in the Bucket game, Allen's seat will begin to warm up a bit

We’ve been to 2 straight January Florida bowl games, recruiting continues to improve, and the image/brand of IU football is better than it’s been in who knows how long. Underachieving this season will not warm up Allen’s seat at all I’m my opinion. He’s safe for at least 3 more seasons.

Yeah, I’m not sure if he could possibly be further from the hot seat.

true FOR NOW but if the season ends without another bowl bid (especially  due to a loss to Purdue) recruiting and IU's national brand will undoubtedly suffer and, if not Allen himself, some assistants' seats will almost certainly be warm if not hot

This is where I am as well. If we miss a bowl and momentum slows, some tough decisions are going to need to be made with staff. Allen wont feel any heat this year, but if we flounder this year AND dont improve next year, there may be some disgruntled Hoosiera.

Allen is here for a while. He has brought in talent.  I’m pretty sure he is clueless as to what to do with the talent but he’s improved the roster. Needs a QB bad. We improved on paper but half the league moved in to the top ten lol! 4-5 wins.

If it isn’t engulfed in flames there is a problem. Sheridan, WR coach, line coach all need replaced. Need a completely new offensive system.

The offensive line especially.

I know that our talent level on the offensive  line is not extraordinary, but we’ve had reasonably good offensive lines that functioned in the Big Ten with less talent in the past.

Heard and Allen go about as far back as Allen’s college coaching career. He’ll be the last offensive coach let go.

What about McCulley??  Wasn't he supposed to replace Penix eventually??  He was a highly rated Indiana high school recruit... right??

I think a lot of that had to do with Wilson honestly. Also had better running and blocking schemes. Wasn't just running it up the middle.

Last season was definitely a fluke. I think we had the perfect culture to weather that storm, among other things. Back to reality this season. I haven’t enjoyed watching IU football this little in quite some time. I’ll continue to hope we can get to 6 wins but my gut says we only get 1 more.
