DQs camp has been very quiet and his thoughts/preferences have not been known really so this is either new or the writers thoughts.  Hard to tell at this point still until pretty reliable people start talking

It makes sense that Maryland could be the leader, they are the home state school and make good use of their bigs. The bit about Houston is more suspect to me. What talented big wants to be relegated to rebounding and doing the dirty work while the rest of the team jacks ups threes? It wouldn't surprise me if he may have been promised he will be one of those jacking up 3s but it still seems like he would be less of a focus in Houston's offense than either Indiana or Maryland's.

He is comparable to Jarace Walker and Houston helped him be the 8th pick in the draft

Comparable in what way? That they’re both roughly the same height /weight? Queen might be a better outside shooter, but he’s not as athletic as Walker. Besides, guards are featured more in Houston’s system.

I really wonder why so many see Maryland as the leader simply because they're the home team. He's played at Montverde in Florida for several years so being away from home obviously doesn't bother him. In addition, his family would be able to watch every game on TV at the other two schools he's considering.

He may well end up at Maryland, but I suspect that it will be for reasons other than they're the home team unless he grew up a die-hard Maryland fan. If that was the case, why wouldn't he have already committed? More likely he would just feel that Maryland was a better fit for him as far as style of play, promises made on how he'd be used, relationship with the coaches and/or players, etc. I just don't see the fact that it's the hometown team mattering too much since he went away for HS.

It's not just that he's from there. There are friends and family that want him close to home after being away during high school. Local businesses have promised a lot of NIL to him. These are businesses with connections to family and friends. UM has shown him the most love and the most consistent love. They promise they'll run things through him. There's something to be said for all of this. He may or may not go there, but there are plenty of reasons for people to consider UM the leader. He's clearly interested in other programs and the opportunities they present. It's reasonable to think him has UM in the lead but wants to check others out because there are things to like about other schools. He's being deliberate and weighing the schools against each other.

rockchalktalk.com was predicting prior to yesterday that McNeeley would commit to IU and that Queen would be joining him as they want to play together.  They felt Kansas would continue to monitor Queen's interest in Kansas but likely are moving on to other targets.

Really? Got a link?

On a positive note:

Liam has called Queen his best friend. That can’t hurt but on the flip side how many friends actually end up committing to the same school?
Getting Boogie could help Queen see the potential for a good team.

On the other hand…

At the moment Maryland seems to be very attractive to kids from the DMV.

Some have posted he has become a NIL focus for Under Armour which is MD based and was founded by a die hard MD grad.

Just put "the other hand" behind your back and don't acknowledge it until Queen commits to IU. Problem solved!

Personally, I don't think Queen is coming to IU. I'd love to have him, it just feels like his interest is elsewhere. The good news is with at least Sparks returning next year and the portal, a big (even a really good one) is lower priority, IMO.
