.....honestly think the players have some idea of who the coach is or possibly is, but not 100%. jmo

I was ready to completely dismiss the idea of "Mystery candidate" and settle on DeVries, McCollum, or someone of similar nature until yesterday when we had 0 guys enter the portal.

Thought that was really interesting especially considering Monday and Tuesdays would be days in which assistants from programs would have some time to pick up the phone and call guys like Malik or MM who would be pretty highly sought after in the portal.

If those 2 especially but more Malik doesn't enter the portal today? Then well that might be Big Time because he not not at least testing for Ben McCollum or DeVries . IMO

Oh Youngblood…I was thinking NES action set with Mario/duck hunt combo cart and light zapper! Best Christmas ever!

I can hang with some mario/duck hunt lol.  I just introduced my 6-yr old to this game on a relatively newer tv and he was like " dad the screen is blurry, I can't see very well help me "  lol

I still think the most likely story here is that Tucker is transferring, and Rabby caught wind of it, but the Tucker family didn’t want it known as they’re currently using Indianas NIL position as additional negotiation leverage against other schools to get a better offer.

edit: was covering the Rabby/Tucker bit, no clue about what Rabby has said about the coach.

If they're really hunting for a better offer and it's heavily money-driven he might as well just live in Cook Hall and grow his game. No one is going to offer close to what he got from IU this season for doing so little. But I'm guessing they realize that and are waiting to see who the hire is and how it might project with playing time.

Someone tell me more about DeVries.  I just don't get why we'd be interested.  One person told me his system in incredibly boring and hard to watch.  Tyme says he's a horrible fit personality wise.  Any of that true?  I only watched WVU once and wasn't impressed.

Jerry had said some time back in February that Tucker was already shopping around IIRC.

I don't see any of the IU players names in the portal this morning....I do see a bunch of other names rolling in.....I am going to assume that they do not know who the coach is yet....

That would suggest the opposite IMO. You can always withdraw your name after a coach is hired and you meet with him you'll be on campus through April into May.

Unless its a big time coach you know you'll want to play for plus the uptick in NIL from hiring said Big Time coach ?

You want to lose your lunch this morning? Just check this list of in-state talent that Woody was unable to obtain for 2025

I don't want to add more Woodson PTSD. It's already bad enough knowing we'll have to see Dusty May's name in the top tier of the conference year after year. The less quality names I associate with his buffoonery the better.

And then his NIL value went down even more lol. I guess it all depends on what they're willing to settle for. If the goal is decent money from a big program I'd say they're wasting their efforts.

It seems the best move is to put your name in the portal and maximize your options.  These are semi-pro athletes now looking for the best path forward.

Yep, I know nothing, but found Jerry’s post.

seems smart on Tucker's end. Every adult at IU was just getting their bag and not developing him...

can't blame him, but I'm sure there is a Tucker thread somewhere to discuss more.

Yah, but there’s no possible way the whole team could keep that secret for more than 5min. Somebody would be texting, instagramming, and snapping while they were being told.

Maybe its more that they've been told it might be in their best interest to wait a few days. I don't know, but I agree, there's no way they have been given a name.

THAT I could totally see and, hopefully, that has happened. This would be another good reason to announce this sooner rather than later. We may want a reboot, but there’s are a few underclassmen who might benefit from a new coach.

I’m confident it’s not DeVries at this point. If he had accepted the job it would be out by now. He would have let WV know and they would already be putting word out that they have an opening.

Agreed. If he had let them know there's no obligation on their end to keep it quiet for whatever IU's timeline might be. He still could have signed and just not informed them yet, but I wouldn't see any reason to wait past today in doing so. Either way I think yesterday was all agent gamesmanship.
