So, WQB forced the hire of a former player, long time friend and mediocre NBA coach with no college experience, and there was doubt in the minds of some that it wouldn't end well? C'mon, that is pretty inconceivable ... the odds were incredibly slim that it ended any other way ... and when you factor in the approach that Woodson took to actually doing the job, it left very little doubt that it would end the way that it has.

I think you might be surprised that many IU fans and friends don’t look at every half of every game and want to fire or extend the coach based on that 20 minutes of play. Most had high hopes for him, especially given all of the previous disappointments, and they’re genuinely sad that it didn’t work out for him and for the University. Not sure why people find that so odd or unbelievable.

Google AI says the sleeper pick is McCollum.  Yesterday it was Otz.  Even AI has no clue.  It was Pearl yesterday using Bing Copilot.  Now it’s back to BM.  Shouldn’t be surprising given Goodman’s thank you very little nugget yesterday.  Anybody have DeepSeek?

Considering that neither is a serious candidate and this is purely hypothetical, Brownell. But for totally different reasons than Beard.

Brownell. The vast majority of my IU friends want Beard. No one I know wants Brownell.

Cathy and I have known each other for many years. I am thrilled to see a friendly face (or read their words in this case).

Go Hoosiers!

I just wanted to see if you really knew your stuff, Quinn.

Man I miss the days when we were debating the merits of Brad Stevens vs Dusty May and Mick Cronin was the "oh sh!t" hire.

Iowa: Devries or McCollum

Indiana: May or Stevens

Annoying both of those guys are presumed “yes” and Indiana can’t get a guy to come home to lead a storied franchise w/ unlimited resources/support

I said a week but was only trying to estimate when our season would end, assuming we received a tournament bid.

As for what you’ve heard, it’s accurate. When it got hot after the Iowa and Illinois games, he wanted SD to publicly support him by saying he was coming back next year. Dolson told him that any evaluation of his performance was a post-season issue, and Woodson didn’t like that. He sought help from others and was told that we weren’t going to do what he wanted. I think he saw the writing on the wall and realized he wouldn’t survive. I’m not privy to every last detail and discussion, but that’s how it unfolded.

The discomfort in certain circles at IU (and from some very prominent alumni and friends) is palpable. He was and is extremely well thought of by a number of people, and no one wanted things to end this way. He’s been connected to IU for nearly 50 years, and that’s helped him build a number enduring relationships. Unfortunately, there were a few people who were concerned that his hiring would someday result in a less than happy departure, so they’ve proved to be prophetic.

This is the most reasonable thing you've said all day.

Honest question.  How many times do people like you have to be wrong before you finally wake up?  The people on these boards have been a million times more correct than the people running things at IU have been for every single hiring and firing since the Knight era.  Every single one.  If you'd just hire who we tell you to you'd never be in this situation.  Is it fun for people like Dolson and Whitten to be laughed at by the rest of the country?  I assure you they are laughed at.  No one can believe how incompetent the people running IU are.  No one.  You see it from the media from people like Goodman and Rothstein.  They think you're a joke.

And here we go again most likely.  You have Chris Beard and Will Wade out there begging for the job.  But you'll screw it up again as always.  I think it's by design.

We actually met your freshman year at IU . . . I’m sure you remember it vividly.

If memory serves, even KathyC said in one of her recents posts that good things are coming for IU hoops.

I don't necessarily consider that a strain on the board.

I haven't the slighest clue who our next coach will be, but Chris, AP, Jerry and others seem to be optimistic, so I'm guess I'm gonna choose to be as well ...

Because a meddling or incompetent college admin hired an unqualifed coach w/o any college basketball experience to be their ... ya know... head college basketball coach?

Who would've thought that possibly would've ended up badly? Go figure. LOL
