If you’re casting a wide net and talking to lots of candidates, there’s gonna be some leaks here and there. If you’ve come to an agreement with anyone involved in the NBA, there’s zero reason for it to be so quiet (you obviously can’t wait for their season to be over, and Woodson and everyone already knows he’s out. So what would be the hold up? Nothing.)
 

Logically, all that makes sense is that we have mostly a handshake deal with a current  college head coach and will finalize/announce when his team is done.

So who is it? Well, the bigger the name, the more likely there’d be a leak. There’s been nothing. So my guess is it’s a candidate like McCollum or Byington or Devries. 

Or it could be this quiet because it’s not currently a college coach and they are just waiting until the season is over to announce??

I'm saying in a vacuum, and NBA GM not being at a his teams regular season home game is fairly normal. They certainly attend very often, but it's also regular for them to not be at a home game due being on the road scouting, etc.

He never said it was on its own. He said if that's the only piece of evidence we're looking at.

Someone has been feeding some of the members on here Brad Stevens info for years that is bad info. If he ends up being the coach out of nowhere, I will gladly come back here and eat crow. Gladly. 

What I don’t understand is this: are you saying that we would potentially hire a coach who’s selected for the NCAA tournament and instead of coaching their team would start immediately working for IU because of timing in the portal?

Possible (though as I’ve said, I can tell you it’s not Brad). But again, if so, why? What would be the reason for such secrecy if it’s someone from the nba world? Maybe you don’t formally announce it, but surely there’d be leaks because keeping it secret doesn’t matter that much when the outgoing coach is already known to be “retiring”. The earlier you can start fundraising off the back of the new guy, the better. The earlier prospexrive transfers know, the better. (This is why the duke assistant is already known to be taking the Miami job and why he’s not even going to stay on duke staff  through the tourney. Earlier it’s announced, the better…only reason you wouldn’t is that it’s a current college head coach.)

He’s a Celtics fan not really an IU basketball fan.  Doesn’t mean he doesn’t know things but he’s one of the most biased posters you’ll ever see.

It’s because the “positive” things are stuff like Cody Zeller catching an IU game while his wife is on tour nearby or Brad Stevens visiting his son at college in the same state as IU. Stuff completely divorced from IU’s head coaching search.
