Thinking about this logically though - why would the "national" media, folks who cover the OVERALL ginormous body of college b-ball, be better connected than the BTB insiders who LIVE in Bloomington and/or work for the university??

So talk about those guys. Start with what you like or don't like about them and why you think they'd be successful, which you will prefer or think will actually be the coach, etc. People will respond. We have talked about coaches other than Stevens. You're allowed to start the conversation.

In the coming days some coaches will have their own threads that are dedicated to them only and not just the general coach candidate thread.   When those are created feel free to jump in one of those and start a conversation until then this thread will get dominated by the White Whale

I like May a lot more now than I did at this time last year. I have PTSD from hiring the up and comer because of Archie. Seeing what May did with Michigan from where they were last year impressed me. I think he would be a great hire.

I’d guess some others do too, but I know a few IU media people and the stuff they can tell you is amazing.   But they don’t always run articles on it because of many reasons: (i) their sources may want it kept confidential, or at least not printed, (ii) it’s not double-sourced or sufficiently verified per journalistic standards, (iii) it’s not really relevant to their broader audience, and/or (iv) an article on it would cause a shitstorm of blowback from IU.

Given the above, that’s what makes message boards useful (and fun) for early stage and niche info.

I get what you are saying here, but how is Dusty May any more believable or possible than Brad Stevens? He's only been in his current job for under a year. I would say that conventional thinking would make Dusty May more of a long shot than Brad Stevens...

I haven’t looked into drew much. Tough to argue about the success he’s had at Baylor. I’ve heard claims that his family is super religious and that’s why they like Waco and for that reason he may not be a good fit in Bloomington. No clue if that’s true
