We've also been told (not necessarily by you- I don't recall) about how tight-lipped Dolson is about this process....so there are competing narratives out there for sure.

That was my first thought before I had a single thought of him coaching IU. Makes me wonder why anyone would want to come here and deal with this ****.

We don’t know anything about plans besides Brad Stevens was the #1 priority. There were discussions and it appears he’s not coming. The effort counts!

Sure there’s no such thing as a sure thing in coaching, but I’d feel much more confident in Tony Bennett building a successful program at IU than I would Dane Fife, for example. Bennett isn’t on my list because I don’t think he’s possible, but you know what I mean.

Maybe according to you and the fans but again we have no idea the direction Scot wants to go.  I can see how going with an IU guy would be the right thing to do because what we have done the last 20 years has not worked.  This is how I look at coaches today and that the younger coaches are just not that great.  After the elite older coaches we pretty much have the same coach and that is not good.  There might be a few but they all seem to play the same style and their is little originality in their games.

I know RMK was not an IU guy but he did build the winning culture at IU and that culture has worked better than any other era we have had.  We have seen what has worked at IU and what hasn't worked so why not try to go back to what worked in the past.

For Bennett I don't see any chance of him wanting to leave UVA for any job.  I also see way more coaches staying where they are at right now if they are having great success and not go elsewhere where you have to start over.  It is not an indictment on IU but it is the culture we see today.

In no way am I making fun of his health but damn..

 

We’ve been discussing Thad’s health the last week or two and we finally get an updated picture of him today. There he is, wearing a freaking ankle brace. Jesus, of course he is!

What exactly does unorganized crap mean? Dolson is unorganized or sources are unorganized?

The fact that he’s been away from coaching D1 basketball and recruiting concerns me. I don’t care about his age. That’s a long time away to be from your passion.

So you would take Beilein over Matta? Beilein hasn’t recruited for about 2 years, old age, thug comment hanging over his head, and there’s a family issue as well. But let’s take him over a healthy Matta who has the best winning percentage of I believe every coach in consideration, and has good connections within the Midwest! A healthy Matta is head and shoulders above most coaches in all of college basketball.

I’m not saying he’s the best candidate, but it’s really annoying that coaches are being dismissed for one reason or the other, but I can easily do the same thing with the coaches you or other posters like just as easily. Some of the posters here are being unreasonable just because of their personal feelings on criteria. 
We all have opinions and that’s great, love that, but it’s the non-stop complaining about certain coaches that get really annoying!

To be fair, my uncle is the same age and has to wear an ankle and knee brace anytime he is not sitting on his behind. If he’s not wearing shorts and flip flops, we never know.
