I would be reasonably encouraged by McCollum. Still think there’s no real excuse not to get one of: Beard, Golden, Wade.

Beard: personal issues make him a complete non-starter.

Wade: we are not hiring a guy who has three months left on a show cause.

Golden: already has a better job at a much better program in a better conference.

Bloomington and Des Moines are 500 miles apart and both in the midwestern farm belt... not that different, actually...

Well, ok, but we all have emotional attachments to where we grew up. So, while they may not be different, the emotional attachment may be quite different.

Going to Georgia on Wednesday to judge and compete with the dogs for the rest of the week. I am sure I will be spending my nights trying to catch up.Still hoping it’s Pearl or Few

Don’t get your hopes up for either of those guys. Especially Pearl.

We are not in talks to hire away the coach of the #1 overall seed lol. No way man.

I've liked Beard but after watching Florida I'm kinda liking Golden but I don't see him leaving.

Sent from my SM-S901U using BtownBanners mobile app

Agreed. Florida is a better job than IU right now. Why would he leave?

They have SEC money.
They're in Gainesville, which is a great college town.
It's warm year-round.
The coeds are great looking there, which may <allegedly> be important to Golden, given his <alleged> past history.

And he's already got a winning program.

He would have zero reason to leave.

People just want to gloat to friends, co-workers, and family members who are alums/fans of different schools. DeVries doesn't provide that satisfaction.

He doesn’t provide that satisfaction because he hasn’t really accomplished anything that would be noteworthy at IU. That’s also what makes him not an A+. This board and many other places were filled with people saying the same about Archie. You’d think they’d learn their lesson.

That doesn’t mean Devries isn’t the right man for the job. He certainly could be.

Rabby in the discord chat after he's the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day;

He doesn't see Brownell as the pick.

Today he's just hedging bets on Devries being real or it being McCollum

Doesn’t he have Brownell as #2 on his hot board or something like that?  Time to update it to version 6.0!

Rabs is just now reaching the soft chatter phase.  BUT Jiminy Christmas people.  Has anybody paid any attention to any of my posts for crying out loud?  I've said McCollum vs DeVries for a week now LOL

Well despite how delusional some (most) of us are,  both of those names didnt get us out of bed a month ago. Frankly, it’s going to take a while for either of those names to get the general fan base excited.

Dolson hiring another mid major is a choice.

I would be very surprised if DeVries is at West Virginia next season regardless of what his agent may be pushing. Very well could have left Iowa City today wanting the Iowa job but left without signing a contract and is leveraging the IU job to get Iowa to up the ante, but Iowa isn’t going to be able to get into a bidding war, let alone win one.

I don't know, I've heard Ashton Kutcher is ready to dish out some major cash for DeVries if needed..

Archie Miller had a better resume before IU than Devries has right now. That’s the hesitancy I have and others- the guy has done very well at Drake for 6 years where he finished 1st in conference once. Still, a good record but not great.

I think IU can do and should demand a better candidate. I dont think that means we have to unrealistic expectations (Stevens, Donovan, Drew, TJ, May)…

I think McCollum is a more compelling candidate and I also think Brownell is a better candidate than Devries.

Curry basically saying if it’s not DeVries, then he believes it’s someone in the Brad Stevens/Dusty May/Will Wade echelon. He also says he does not believe it is McCollum, Brownell or McDermott

Curry hicks saying McCollum is out and it's either Devries or a total dark horse

Got a time stamp? I’ll try to catch the IU bit tomorrow.
