The NBA isn't college. They don't just keep coaches around because of their track record. If you aren't making the playoffs on a regular basis you'll get fired. Donovan is definitely on the hot seat. The Bulls are a mess right now and notoriously cheap. Donovan is top ten in salary. They aren't paying him to lose regardless of their terrible roster management etc.

That's not how AKME operate

I understand. He'll finish out his contract most likely (which I don't know when that ends) But I don't see either party agreeing to a new one after that. This has nothing to do with IUBB btw.

I don't think Kansas would be firing Bill Self...it would be more of Bill Self wanting to leave to have fresh start and new challenge

I just don't see a world where Bill Self voluntarily leaves the mecca of college basketball to go coach at Indiana University.

Kansas isn't firing Bill Self after this season. C'mon.

I’m not saying they are going to fire him they would never, but you certainly could nudge him out the door aka put him out to pasture by encouraging him to look at other jobs . Thinking of it more like a Calipari type situation driven from Kansas end of things

Again I’m not even predicting it will happen BUT if they think they have a real shot at Nate Oats and Kansas loses today and bows out of the tourney in the first round ? Go take a peak in the Kansas boards or look up some stuff insiders have been writing.

they were pushing a story that he spent multiple days last off season in Stillwater , OK contemplating taking the Oklahoma State job . It was published and he had to comment on it . That’s at the very least a strained relationship right now

Kind of like when RMK was thinking of going to Arizona State years ago?

He later admitted that maybe he should have left IU then, so maybe there's some truth to that...

One could've said the same thing about Calipari and Kentucky. Similar situations...fanbase getting angry, results haven't been as good recently. Fresh start needed.

Reinsdorf doesn’t care about winning. Bulls are always near the top of attendance.  Reinsdorf cares about profit.   I don’t see him being fired, but I can see him wanting to go to a place where he knows he can win.   Earlier this year when bulls were doing OK with an injured roster, the local sports radio guys asked “is Billy too good for this job?!?”  lol

Bulls are a unique place bc of Reinsdorf

I think there's a better chance Brad Stevens coaches IU next year over Bill Self and I currently have Brad Stevens coaching IU at 0%.

The weird thing is, he can beat Izzo and Painter, but not Collins or Hoiberg.

His teams can’t get out and defend the 3 and keep two bigs in to protect the paint. It’s not surprising that teams that have good shooting guards that launch a bunch of 3s give Woody trouble.  IDK about northwestern. I guess they’re smart and move the ball which gives us trouble. Without looking it up, I’d guess they shoot better than average from 3 against us.

And while Woody isn’t a great coach he isn’t flat out awful. If you’re going to be like Painter and run an offense predicated on dumping it into the post every possession, you kind of play right into Woodys hands. Plus it’s a rivalry game…although somebody forgot to tell Archie that.

I think that was New Mexico. At least while he was at IU.

I believe he was very loosely connected with an opening at Arizona State when he was at Texas Tech.

Most wins, best/historical gym, James Naismith...yeah Kansas is the epicenter of college basketball

To be fair, @AH1971 has a point here.  If you blindly asked me where the mecca of college basketball is, Kansas would be my first answer too.

Unlikely he would go from one fishbowl to another. If kansas is going to run him off, why would he go to another school that would do the same if he didn't have consistent success?

I mean to me its all just fun hypothetical discussion to pass the time of a coaching search that 4 + weeks in the making.

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything, I know you pride yourself as the eternal pessimist of BTB ill work on your certificate when I get the chance.
