Raise your hand if you knew Shaka interviewed for our job last week.

Lol seriously? Goes to show you that the media truly knows nothing as it pertains to the search.

Because you don’t like it or because you can easily refute any of the reasons in my post?

Because he’s isn’t that good a coach, isn’t coaching, and makes no sense other than he’s available. He’d be that that chick you convince yourself is good looking enough because it’s late and everyone else is taken.

Because I felt like sharing with you guys. Any agents still lobbying for their guy to get the job are trying to get them a raise or an extension

Did dolson tell him at the end of the interview thanks for your efforts but we’ve had our guy locked up for a month?

Exactly, & it’s not entirely impossible that we’re at closing time & need to go hoggin’.

You think the interview/vetting process is done at this point? Any random names we hear now are just trying to get a buck?

Good dude, was a good poster. You should go read a thread from a month or so back about boards and how you got to BTB. Some of us old message board fantastic still roam around.

My very first message board was the original Peegs back in the 90's...no subscription or anything...you literally had to enter a user name every time you posted...many people would use multiple user names, and basically have discussions with themselves...until Gojko snuffed them out by tracing IP addresses...that was a long time ago...

The way some of you pine for Sampson you have no room to complain about any decent coach IU hires. Sampson is 70 years old. He’s been a head coach since the 80’s. He’s been to a whopping 2 FFs in his entire career, never advancing to the championship game. He got beat by Mike Davis in one of those FFs.

He is a good coach, but you guys seriously overrate him in an effort to rewrite history. He completely screwed IU over but we were supposed to cover for him because he had Elston and Pritchard coming in? Lmao…

How do people overrate him? He won 74% of his games and IU and 72.4% of his conference games. Had IU at 22-4 before he was fired. He's gone to the sweet 16 or farther in each of the last five tournaments. Since moving to the Big 12, he’s dominated, going 34-4 in conference. Hes an outstanding coach and I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to say he would’ve won a title here at some point if IU didn’t fire him.

So if we are down to 4 according to some (excluding Stevens for this conversation, and for some odd reason feel compelled to leave off Turgeon as well…..)  McDermott, Wade, McCollum, and Brownell, what is everyone’s preference here? They all bring something different, so I would be curious on what posters are thinking would be best for IU out of the group I listed.

**I’m not saying it’s actually down to those 4, but after today, just going off of some generalizations.**

I'd be okay with any except Brownell...

Gates was on some early hot board lists to IU.

Put together a list of “successful” African American coaches. He’s on it along with Ed Cooley, Anthony Grant, Tommy Amaker.  Lamont Paris would have been on the list last season as SEC COY. He would have gotten a very strong look with his Midwest and B1G history. Not saying IU will hire anyone on this list, but there is some pressure to hire an African American coach. May not be enough to ultimately win out.

Who are these mystery people pressuring IU into hiring a black coach? And if they are, are they gonna be footing the bill for the massive buyout to get a coach like Gates?
