That wasn't how NIL was set up to be

Neither is the "pay for play" model that it currently is... it  was set up for compensation for endorsements, and use of their NAME, IMAGE or LIKENESS ... but, well, that horse is out of the corral.

I didn't think collectives were allowed to talk to recruits until the player signs with your team.

With the collective, I think there are no rules right now and it would be stupid for Indiana to act any differently than every other top school likely is right now.  If Fred Glass wants to talk to Mullins' Dad, free country.  If your school is worried about losing a kid, up your offer.

Now, do I think this is the way things should be?  No.  However it is the way things are and we have the weight to be successful in this environment so I want Indiana's weight thrown around.  We didn't do this in the shoe era and we lost our market space because of it.  It is the wild west right now and we have one of the fastest shooting guns with the most bullets.  Let's go get a good pistolier and use our advantages.

Are people really surprised that there’s rule-bending and constant playing in grey areas when it comes to paying college athletes? It’s college sports lol.

Some people just don't believe in the sanctity of amateur athletics anymore. Sad.

Just saying the all time great coaches all started out at a lower level. If you think a coach is going to be great then it shouldn't matter where they come from.

I'm pretty sure every single HC of a major university,  superstar to sh*ttiest ever was an asst/lower level hc.

NIL just means players can get paid. Forget how it’s was supposed to be. That’s not the reality. The reality is it’s lay for play. This is minor league basketball now. The collective’s are the boosters who pay the players. So it’s all above board now, which gives IU an advantage since they have the funds but wouldn’t use them under the previous system. And there is nothing wrong with pay for play. The old system was actually illegal and was deemed so in court.
