Not that Crean would have deserved to be fired. And almost certainly the administration was not of a mind to do something so mercenary. But, in hindsight, two trips to the title game from the Horizon League should have been a clear message; 'No hard feelings, Tom, but we have to do this for the good of the program.'

In order for Crean to get fired after those first 2 seasons if he didn't get Zeller, the next three years would have to be pretty much in the middle of the Big Ten and not getting better.  One thing that Crean did have going for him is the development a lot of players showed like Oladipo.  The player has to have that fire to get better, and the coach needs to throw gas on that fire.  Crean had that going for him that the next coach needs.

Not sure it was 100% confirmed, but likely.  He has said he was a former IU player and it appears he had a loyalty to Woodson.  At first people thought it was Xavier Johnson but looks like that is not the case.  Kopp makes sense because regardless of how few shots Kopp was getting (something that 'wasn't Mike Woodson's job' -- Mike Woodson -- Kopp continued to start.

I have no problem with Kopp as a player here.  I do think he would have been better off going somewhere that actually believed in the three point line.

I think it’s Kopp because I’ve noticed they have a lot of overlap in using unique phrases. Like calling people “pencil necks” lol

And for every Oladipo or Anunoby it seemed like there multiple Prillers or Grant Gelons.  I’m all for trying to find diamonds in the rough but some of the guys he offered were completely mystifying.

Underrated insult tbh.

Now I have to find a way to call someone Big Fella and Pencil Neck in the same day at work.

Crean had 7 years left on his contract. He wasn't getting fired in 2011.

My theory for why Stevens stayed at Butler 2 more years is that he was waiting to see if Crean made it here. Wishful thinking, maybe.

SDB isn’t Kopp. There are tweets during OKC Blue games. I find it hard to believe an active GLeaguer playing 30 minutes a game is running a burner that’s that active anyway. Also, just scroll back a couple weeks and he spent a handful of tweets defending Romeo Langford.

Where is Romeo now, overseas?

His sister got fired, what, maybe 20 years ago? Doesn’t matter, dude’s not coming back yet.

Coached at IU 200-2005 so yes 20 years ago.

Someone on here was looking for a crazy rumor earlier. I’ve got a doozy. I just got a call from my 80 year old mom. She said “I guess you saw that IU named their new coach”. Of course I said no, who? She replied “Shaq”. I started laughing. She was convinced it was true. This is a prime example of why some people shouldn’t have access to Facebook.
