I do not blame you for taking a break from this.  I don't bother with commenting on other people's rumors and beliefs.  It just seems to antagonize them.

It takes two to fight.

If it costs you your peace, then it is too expensive.

Never take criticism from someone that you would not take advice from.

Everyone knows about rumors.

And some people just do not exhibit critical thinking.

Good luck.

Come back when the hurricane of rumors is passed.

Pretty solid advice here.  Roll a big fatty and enjoy the Sunday funday.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Drew’s faith is a huge part of his life and he works for a Baptist school lol.

Direct quote to CBN: “Everything we do in the program is Christ-centered.”

I have no issue with people professing their faith, but I have serious doubts how he’d fit at a liberal institution or if he’d even be willing to go to one.

As many know UK made a huge run at Drew before they went to Hurley and then Pope.  IIRC Mitch Barnhart had a good, long-term relationship with Scott, so UK had an angle to get him.  Drew’s family even flew to Lexington to check it out.  As we know they passed.  The reason is likely what OKHOOSIER stated — Drew and his family are extremely tied into the religious aspects of Baylor.

We aren’t UK, but zoom out and IU is pretty similar, we just happen to be in a college town and have our teeth.  I doubt he leaves Baylor for us for the same reasons he didn’t leave for UK.  I don’t see a unique angle for us to get him.

Cronin had detailed answers, call backs to earlier game situations and players.  Always critical of himself and looking to improve.
Wants the league to go to a 1 day break between games on long road trips.  PAC 12 was doing that.  Stresses that they are preparing to win the tournament, that’s their focus.  1 day turnaround mimics the tournament so better prep for that format
Points out that he is 9-3 in tournament games at UCLA
I didn't want to fall asleep listening to it. Didn't sound like it was scripted. Didn't says there is plenty of season left and I need to figure out how to get them over the hump.

Shew. Having Cronin and many others over Drew is just a clear mistake.

Covid year they were a 1 seed.

He coaches at Baylor...

You could be right; I think it's all a percentage question. Am willing to revise Drew ahead of Calipari. Cronin has made decent tournament runs more consistently, and more recently.

I'd feel a lot better if Drew had more recent tournament success. Baylor's Championship team is one of my favorite recent teams. They're also Drew's only time getting to the Sweet Sixteen in the last 7 years.

I can't imagine Scott Drew being outside of someone's top 3 or 4. As always, to each their own.

Probably the single most greatest program  building  job of any coach.  He took over a program that they involved a murder of a player.   Look it up.   Insane job building Baylor into what they are today

Maybe Dave Bliss was the key.  Hire him and the NEXT guy will absolute kill it (pun not intended).

One thing I do agree with is that I do think it would be odd to announce the next coach while our season is still ongoing

I think this is virtually a lock NOT to happen if the hire is a sitting head coach. We may have a strong idea who it’ll be — no May extension, coupled with a search that stays quiet, for example, would be a pretty serious sign.

However, if it’s a Stevens, Jay Wright, Tony Bennett thing, if the Bulls hit a skid and send Billy Donovan out, then it could happen. These are all much less likely, of course, than the first paragraph.

The fact Woody is “retiring” and it’s not an outright firing gives you some cover here that differs from a more traditional situation.

He also earlier in the season really did not the situation that UCLA was in terms of conference travel.  Right now they have a lot of long trips to the Midwest/East Coast.  On the opposite front, IU goes West once.

What’s impressive is when you compare Cronin’s results to those of IU over the last 20+ years.

It’s astounding to me that fans of a program as underachieving as IU would be less than thrilled with Mick Cronin results

Better than terrible <> Great.
Good is the enemy of great.
Hire someone that has proven they’ll be good & that’s what we’ll be.  IU should be GREAT.

No Otzelberger? He is my number 1

Is he your #1 with or without the possibility of him not wanting to leave Iowa State?  Seems like that would likely up his cost.

Personally, there are a number of candidates I would be okay with and that includes Stevens, May, Oltzenberger, Cronin, Beard, Drew, Oats, McDermott, Drew (in no particular order).  McCollum from a pure coaching standpoint but that's a risk from a recruiting standpoint.  But looking at those candidates I think there are some that are definitely more difficult to get than others.

Even that m*****f***** Will Wade I would accept with a turned up nose because he could win, particularly with the NIL we have.  Sorry, USPS.

This thread is impossible to keep up with.  I have no clue who IU is targeting but I kind of hoped I could come here to find something tangible.  Instead, most of the posts are fantasies.

For what it’s worth no one actually seems to be in the know and I’m not sure those who know are talking. So it’s mostly hypotheticals.
