General Coach Candidate News

On SD calling a reporter and telling him, I agree it wouldn’t go down like that. But if a reporter uncovered certain clues and went to Dolson (a reporter who is an asset to the AD), he could say, “I’m going to be honest with you, but I’m asking you to hold this till ——-“. Kind of like Morgan Freeman did with that reporter in Deep Impact.

on BS owning equity, he’d own it whether he’s an employee or not. They don’t take your stock back when you retire.

Depends on the vesting schedule

I know I'll probably get made fun of here like DMV, but have scrolled through all the Chris Beard discourse now even leading into Chris Mack discussion. Hearing Chris is a real candidate.

Watch out for Chris(tie) Sides........

Guys it’s going to be Frank Vogel. He’s the dark horse candidate. Currently a consultant with the Mavericks. Cuban was probably working him. Ties to the state of Indiana. Only 51 years old. Scott’s probably been at Bankers Life chatting it up with the Simon’s on their referrals. Also played for Pitino at Kentucky. It’s been obvious the entire time.

Probably on the plane that came from Dallas to Monroe a couple hours ago.

Again...to hire someone like this over a Chris Beard (who wants the job) or a Scott Drew, makes little sense. If Stevens fall through...fork in the road...which way are we going to choose. Time will tell. I trust Dolson to make the right decision.

Collins' career Big 10 win % is only 37.5%.  Before Collins the Wildcats had only had a single season Big 10 win percentage higher than that 5 times in 60+ years.  He has had 3 10+ wins in conference in the last 8 years.  The last time NW had one 10 win season in conference was 1932.  NW struggled when the transfer portal changed, but Collins is adjusting and they are moving back in the right direction.   I am not claiming Collins would be the right coach at Indiana, but Chris Beard isn't accomplishing at NW what Collins has accomplished.

Yesterday was wild and I wondered how today would be in here. It has definitely been different, but has not disappointed.

Have definitely been hearing some names that weren't on my bingo card. LOL

Why did that plane following the Celtics eventually come back to Indy? Christie

Recent ties to the state of Indiana? Christie

Big ten assistant coaching experience? Christie

(w)NBA coaching experience? Christie

Everyone saying Scott had his guy all along were right...but also wrong. All along Scott had his girl

Well @RoadToZion is pretty damn certain that we are. But has not said which Brad, and there are two.

How about Brad #3… Brad Underwood.

He’s gone 80-39 at Illinois the last 5 years in the Big Ten.  He won a conference title in ‘22 and finished second in ‘21 and ‘24. He went to the elite 8 last year.  Brad #3 has a sustained track record of success in the Big Ten.  I’d take him over many of the other names being floated.

That $30million+ buyout would even make Ned and Fuzzy blush.

Nope just would be kicking McDermott out at the next delivery point if it means we land Otzelberger.

Darkhorse candidate? He's been a pretty successful coach and midwestern guy. Not sure on the falling out with louisville?

There in lies the problem with Mack. The expectations and pressure of the job wore him down. It was reported that Louisville and Mack had a mutual agreement to separate. They were not having a good start, Mack was suspended to start the season and they were coming off a season with no NCAA Tournament.

Who isn't a candidate. From the huss buss to turgeon to drew we got it all covered. Mid majors to nba to high manors to division 2 legends. Dolson must have 35 interviews setup by now. Kind of surprised no high school coaches have been brought up yet.
