The extension wasn’t signed in January, it was signed on Wednesday. Does anyone else think it is odd that a contract that began in January didn’t get signed until this week?

Didn't realize that thanks for the heads up might have to wonder over to the Iowa State 247 board and see what the thoughts and reactions are.

Obviously northwestern isn’t the best job but I don’t understand the affinity there.

He’s been at northwestern 12 seasons and has exactly zero top 35 KenPom teams. He’s been worse than 65th 67% of the time. 4 top 65 teams! Tough job or not, it’s a power conference school and the majority of the time his teams have stunk, and none of them have been even merely good.

How is that better than the upside afforded by someone like Ben M.

What he’s done, with almost nothing, has been solid.  Maybe not good enough for IU, but he’s done a great job at Northwestern.  And we’ve all seen him coach and he’s very good IMO.  The question is how great could he be at IU with much superior talent?

Comparing him specifically to Ben M - I’m sure people would lean on Collins P4 experience.  Crean talked about that too in his podcast with HH.

This just seems like the same thing he signed in December—so they didn’t re-re-extend him?

Yeah I believe it’s the same extension, wa s reported earlier (pressure campaign from one side or the other in Ames?) but seems to have just been signed.

Also, I know Otz’s wife is an Iowa State hoops legend but she’s from Australia. Not sure he’s stuck there, the contract details here do not present a hurdle to hiring him for IU.

My understanding is that they have a decent level of support for the size of the program. Not elite. Before all this stuff was above board, they had more luck with elite talent. People have speculated about that.

Got it. I’ve gathered that Baylor NIL is more geared towards football.

Does anyone know how Drew is viewed within Indiana bball circles?

this post will be met with skepticism, which is understandable. but it won't be Stevens. 100% confident on that. Dolson's current list is 3, he doesn't have his "man", but any of those 3 would be really strong hires. has plans D and E as well, names we've all heard but hope it doesn't get to them. Nothing announced until late march at the earliest. deep talks with 1 candidate in particular, a name i think would be just about universally liked, but nothing signed and won't be until his team is done

- Jackal

And who are you? Why should we believe you?

I for one, would like to hear Jackal's take on the board's most pressing matter;  cork taint.

Or Turgeon. More Turgeon bombs!

(As in finally bombing the notion of Dolson even being interested in him)

Well he did threaten to deport a former Indiana Elite player if he didn't commit several years back so there's that.

I'm not sure how much he recruits Indiana if at all. Don't seem to recall any Indiana born players on his Baylor teams.

If anyone has real info I will gladly tell them were my info came from so that I can push back on their claims if they do the same.

I may have misread you, but it seemed like earlier your post said you have information from Brad’s side that tracks with what Jackal said, but in the same sentence said his info didn’t make sense.

so is your information telling you that Brad is definitely a “no”, but his story doesn’t make sense, or are you saying your source on Brad’s side says that he’s still in discussion?

Was not highly favored 10 years ago. That may have mended with time, but I don't know that.

I will say at least I'm not scared to name names. If you're going to say something vague at least name someone.

Hey everyone I can tell you it's not going to be this person but I think it could be one of these 5 guys

I agree 100%. Don't say anything if you're not really saying anything.

Giving out home addresses, occupations, cell phone numbers, and lunch buddies on a free, public, anonymous message board is frowned upon.

No one asked him for those things.   But having him follow up (which he did) lends some credibility to what he is saying.
