Seems to me it's the same people talking about him a lot, not a lot of people. Regardless, I am going to say Cronin will not be the guy, if no other reason than Doyle being one of the people talking about him.

His winning pct at LSU is literally Cronins at UCLA and that's the only thing going for Mick, which again, is less than uclas all time.  

Anytime Wade has lost a game in the past 5 or 6 years I post that picture in the college basketball thread.  It’s a well known inside joke for longtime posters on this site.  My hatred for Wade as a coach goes back along way on this board and it’s well documented.  I don’t care how much the guy wins I don’t want him anywhere near a program I’m invested in.  There was a time back in his VCU days where I posted on how good of young coach he was going to be and he runs really good stuff.  His personality changed for the worse when he got to LSU and he became someone I didn’t want to root for anymore.   Throw in the arrogance of his strong a…. offers and how slimy he looked during it and after I just want no part of him.   He is a fantastic coach I just think he is a POS trash of a human and don’t want him near Bloomington.   Luckily I don’t have to worry about that

Cronin is not the popular choice of a lot of people. I haven't seen anyone actively campaigning to hire Cronin, nobody wants Cronin (I certainly don't), but if we get to the Brownell's or McCollum's just to find someone willing to say yes to our job, we could do worse than a guy who makes the tournament every year and wins 68% of his games.

The fact is, people simply do not like Cronin's personality (which 100% totally get after the last 8 years), and it has nothing to do with his coaching record. If he was likable, he would probably be considered a really nice option and not like 6-10 on the list.

I am not going to argue about the amount of people, but there are plenty of posts supporting him, hard to miss them actually?

His buyout is the issue.  I wouldn't be so against him if it was less than that.  But you don't spend 10mil on safe then another 5/year.  That's not safe money.

I think the May extension sheds some light on the search imo. I don’t think May signs his “low ball” extension if IU was after him. I think he would have got a lot more money if he could leverage an IU offer. 

Which tells me that Dolson either has his guy or he is still in discussions with guys he rates above May. Who those coaches are, I’m unsure. But there are many coaches I’d rather have before going to May, if the money was available for buyouts. Sounds like we have money to spend so….

May also took a $1 mil raise, still less than Archie at IU 8 years ago. And the buyout is still low at $7.5 mil. So he says he is staying at Michigan because he doesn’t have an IU offer. He also couldn’t leverage IU interest bc Dolson isn’t there yet and possibly won’t be. But if plans fall through May has a manageable buyout for IU to get him if their top options do not pan out. 
 

I don’t believe all the top tier options have been exhausted yet. In Dolson I trust and I think IU will be in good hands moving forward with whoever they hire because it will not be someone like Brownell or McCollom. It will be with someone who has a track record of success.

With Cronin, he’s not a bad option, but he limits the ceiling this program can take IMO. We will consistently make the tournament, which is a huge improvement over where we are at now, but won’t have a lot of success in it. 
 

My worry with Cronin is we will be with him, most likely, for the next 15ish years and will have a couple Sweet 16s. Not enough to get him fired, so it all just depends on what Dolson wants and who is willing to take the job.

People hate Tom Brady cause he won a lot. You seem to hate Wade on a personal level, mentioning his personality. That's why I ask. To each their own, I just don't get it
