So you have knowledge into how IU is conducting its search when you say things like “exploring like they’re exploring … right now?” And you have 1 degree of separation from Turgeon? What’s your take on if IU hired Turgeon?

If we have to go that far down the list I’m very concerned.

I'm starting to think this person might work for the search firm IU is using. They are located out east by you

So you are saying they are courting more than one person? Rabby has said they have reached out to at least 10 agents of coaches

I can’t speak to other aspects of the process because I don’t know. What I do know is there’s nothing about the nature of the pursuit that would suggest to me they think that some Plan A or B is imminent or likely.

No, like I said, connection is via a mark connection specifically.

And look everyone, I know mark may not excite a lot of the base the way others might. But he’s an accomplished college coach and those aren’t easy to find, and again there’s some feeling it’s a good fit from an intangibles perspective.

2 sweet 16 visits in 25 years isn’t exactly accomplished…won some games though

It isn't that he isn't an accomplished coach. My only issue is that they should have many, many choices in mind before they would be getting to him.

TURGEON?!?!?! Where the flying heck did he come from in this search. Not a name I have heard in forever.

It came from every IU fans nightmares.

It’s pretty accomplished. In the grand scheme of things there are not a lot of coaches who can say they’ve done that. Doesn’t mean he is the right guy for IU. I appreciate our new friend joining the board and sharing what they are hearing. Nothing personal against Mark, but he’s been out of coaching for a while. Woody wasn’t a HC when we hired him either. Can IU not pull a sitting head coach? If we make it through the list all the way to Turgeon, we may be able to win at a better rate, but I just don’t think I’ll be able to stomach it knowing Quinn/Dolson cost us Dusty May being a year too slow. It will be hard to get excited

I am still of the opinion that Dolson had a clear plan prior to us getting to the retirement (wink, wink) announcement.  You don't get to his position without a plan and in most cases, there are several versions of that plan because anything can happen.  See 4 years ago.

He is likely connected to several agents and in the end, there has to be a mutual agreement on the numbers.  He should be vetting and looking at each of those individually and seeing what works.
