If Crean had made a Final Four he'd have been given A LOT more leeway. That said, I was curious about your claim and Cronin's 6 years have absolutely been better than Crean. Here's how the first 6 years of Cronin compare to the last 6 of UCLA when looking at KenPom ratings as well as how the season finished.

So marginally? Idk why anyone would look at those results from Cronin, at UCLA, and say "sign me up"

To each their own, but I think Cronin is an above average coach, at best, and we can do measurably better.

I don't think its some conspiracy of those for Woodson wanted to stick it to anyone.  It was noticing last years roster had its deficiencies at guard, give him the ability to bring in talent so they're not canning an IU legend without giving him talent and a legit chance to succeed.  He got his players and it would either work or it didn't and it obviously didn't.

A hearty welcome to btb.

****, my dog is too.  No reason to talk about my dog though.

I still think we're focusing on the wrong things in this search.  Find the best candidate regardless of Midwest ties.  And eliminate Cronin

Last time I checked UCLA isn't in the Midwest

I have not seen other discussions being shut down in this thread, plenty of good back and forths about other candidates. No gripes with your posts at all, didn’t mean to come off that way. We have the threads with polls on 40 other coaches. Because of the nature of this Stevens infatuation, it’s easier to contain the non-Stevens talk IMO… either way this should all be going out like a wet fart soon. 6 more weeks til an announcement hopefully

I enjoy your posts. But I did reply to a post shutting down talk about a coach that wasn’t Brad where it said not to bring that coach up. That isn’t the only post of that nature.

it wasn’t my post that was being shut down but I do understand the frustration of many here around this topic. I strongly believe based on info that was shared with me that the original search 4 years ago was botched in many ways and it wasn’t the BOT like many here claim it to be.

those same people from 4 years ago are pushing the same thing again and folks are able to buy into that again but all signs again point to us needing to look elsewhere and I would like to have those discussions here.

I 1000% agree! Hes been to a final 4 but so has Mike Davis. Yes he’s been to the tournament a ton but was in a lower conference that he could dominate and yet he is 1 game above .500 in the tournament which to me isn’t the home run hire we need. I think you have to try for May if that’s who your backup plan is and let’s be honest they can back channel to his agent and find out for certain if he wants the job and if he says no you go to your next candidate in the back channels. But I’d think and hope they have what’s equal to an NFL Draft board and give each candidates their draft grade and then rank them based on such.

I could be wrong, but it think it is when you have to have your name in the portal by.

opens march 24- April 22. So if our next coach is still coaching in the tourney, we will have to get him as soon as his team is eliminated…or wins the whole thing! lol

Hopefully once the initial disappointment passes for some (probably after all star weekend lol) this chapter will be entirely behind us and we can all look forward. I just hope that Dolson and other people in this process are laser focused on viable targets. If anything I’m pleased Brad let us all down in mid February so there’s, you’d assume, plenty of time to be prioritizing people who actually want to be here and can make us successful consistently again. That should have been the case all along I hope, and expect. The good news IMO, is that there are plenty of viable candidates this cycle who I think can do that for us. I am very eager to get the official announcement ideally as soon as our new coach is done with his current CBB team’s season.

An ounce of common sense, not to mention any semblance of optics, made it pretty clear Brad Stevens wasn’t going to be the next coach.

1. Left college in 2014

2. Walked away from coaching altogether in 2021

3. Assembled a championship winning franchise

4. Has the best roster in the NBA secured for the foreseeable future

1+1 usually equals 2.

Whatever equation signals Brad Stevens coaching IU is why statistics is still an extremely tough course to pass.

Sometimes 1+1=10. It's about perspective, so what's wrong if some people view Stevens as a possibility? How does that affect you?

Maybe BS got cold feet and scared of the challenge or maybe he is comfortable being a behind the scenes office boy in Boston.
anyways, I just hope we hire somebody that is fairly youthful and has a lot of passion and BB IQ!!

Could you guys keep it down in here?  I'm trying to take my company's anti-harassment course online in another tab.  I'm starting to wonder what harassment is really

That’s what I’m trying to figure out

Do you feel it's possible that Brad out respect & concern for Woodson & current players had that tweet put out to turn down the volume of a Steven's distraction?

Wonder if the Celtics offered minor ownership? From my understanding, the company that owns the Celtics only owns like 52% of the organization and is only selling their portions of it. Seems like a similar solution again from the last time around.

So, assuming the Stevens ship has fully sailed and it’s not a smokescreen, what’s everyone’s top 3? These are mine:
- Dusty May
- Chris Beard (if fully vetted and IU feels he can succeed off the court. I’m fully aware this is an extreme long shot, but still in my top 3 if IU thinks he’s the guy)
- Bruce Pearl
I can see the Pearl ship sailing, but I think he would help make IU a national relevant program again before retiring. I think May is the most realistic of the top candidates, but we will see. I think he will do great things at IU, but curious to see how this all unfolds.

Love those three. Me personally (and before a select few attack me, it’s just my dream list)

Beard - always been my #1
Pearl - feel it has sailed, but at least call
Oats - never happen, but call anyways
May -
