I doubt anyone who isn't an IU fan would think twice about firing back to back alumni. Maybe the sort of thing Purdue fans troll IU fans about. Wouldn't let that influence the decision. Really wish we just hired Dusty last offseason.

Gary Parrish calling a spade a spade and saying how stupid we were for not firing Woody last year and hiring Dusty is like the most normal national take I’ve heard. We could have had him, we should have had him, and now he’s in first place at a place with as much money as IU if not more.

I asked this about Dusty before but I'll ask again. Do you think SD would be hesitant to hire another alumn and his friend knowing there's a real possibility he'd have to fire him? The optics of firing back to back alumni wouldn't be good at all. And personally for Scott, firing a friend wouldn't be great either. Clearly there's a chance they ride off into the sunset together as well.

I mean Woodson isn’t mad at QB for his forced retirement so I assume if that were to happen then Scott can be forced by the board to remove Dusty

Yeah @Hovadipo is right, I think Albert’s was Rivals staff st the time, had done the rounds at ITH and maybe 247. He reported Donovan news that no one else verified (though there was board chatter) and I think history has borne out that he was incorrect

What I do wonder though is how coachable the kids on our current team are. If Dusty comes in last year what portal players does he grab with Reneau, gallo, and MM back. Those three just don’t seem coachable at all. I don’t think rice or Carlyle or Ballo come though and instead it’s Wolf and who knows who else.

Wouldn’t that depend on the expectation that people set for him

Honest question, if Brad actually became the head coach, what expectations would realistically set for him?

Ranked every year and sweet 16 every year or banner year every year.

Well since he’s been anointed the savior of the program for at least 10 years now I’d say expectations aren’t sweet 16. My question is how many 20 point beat downs in Mackey til the fans turn on him? That will continue as long as Painter is there.

20 point losses? Woodson won there once and just lost by 5 this year. If that potato can do that, I think anyone else will be just fine.

And people have all different expectations, thats why I asked what yours were just to gauge what people thought.

Thank you for answering by the way.

Why are you being so miserable?  We lost by 5 points like 2 weeks ago, with a bad team/coach.

I shall now refer to you as Alford Bailey Painter.

And to add to that. there has only been two 20 point loses since 1998. You make it sounds like it happens all

The time. Woodson has beat them more times than 20 points losses in 27 years for god sakes.

This will not go over well but Jim coyle was saying the name he hears most from listeners is Beard. He said he won a poll they did on hoosier.com as well. He isn't coming so nobody needs tp go crazy about this but I think he has more support than some on here think he could ever get for being the next coach.

No I meant last year because someone said we should’ve gotten start last year who has his team in first place. So I was meaning would we be in first place too with so many uncoachable kids

Not sure if I understood the question.  But, speculating here, I doubt that the players are unable to learn from a good bunch of coaches.  They all have strengths and weaknesses.  Use that.  Don't toss them under the bus because of a lack of direction...and mentoring.  At times, they are like the Lord of the Flies.  Other times...they can beat Captain Hook. They needed help and didn't get it.

Because he’s called RMK a “father figure”, had RMK signature on his ole Miss 1/4 zip and then quoted RMK during a halftime interview. I also believe he would win big time here, as I think many do. Of course he will win a poll haha
