Ole Miss is 16-6 with Ws over Kentucky, Bama, and UL.... if we passed on him 4 years ago, don't even investigate more because we think we know it all? Yeah that's just stupid if he's actually begging for the job. Complete malpractice.

You said it was malpractice to pass on him four years ago but he then went on to last only 42 games at Texas. I’ll bet Texas wishes they had passed on him.

I said it's malpractice to already have him eliminated.

No you didn’t.  You clearly said it was malpractice if he was passed on before he got arrested. See below………

because beard wants the job. It's a hard no from the athletic department side, he was passed on before het got arrested.

the bold is malpractice, if true

So Iowa the run and gun team fans would be happy with the slow pace?

If they start winning I doubt they will mind the pace.

I have read the same things were being said when IU hired RMK because we were known as the Hurrin Hoosiers.  It took awhile but our fans started to the slower pace and the defensive minded coach. Also the longer RMK was here he adapted his offense and we routinely averaged around 80 ppg

My wife teaches with Dusty's sister-in-law. She used to tell me some things but she has been on maternity leave the whole year so far. I asked if they were coming to the Christmas party which I was told she and her husband were. Then they never showed up. Their doing everything they can to not share info this year.

So is this an indication that you've been know to badger folks for information? I don't know anyone who does that? :)

Hell with it, give us Buzz and let’s roll…

I have no problem with Buzz. I like him more than Cronin.

Okay… hyperbole aside?

McCollum has been absolutely dominant in D2 and has had an excellent 2/3 of a year in the MAC, but that doesn’t remotely address the GM duties, personality juggling (and that includes boosters, agents, fans, media, and the BOT), and quality of opposition coaches he’d deal with in the B1G.

I see the attraction, but a guy like Buzz Williams is a zillion times better choice for me.

This reminded me of that Butler coach so many IU fans wish we had hired.  The best window to hire him was before Crean was hired in 2008.  Stevens became Bulter's coach in 2007 and finished his first year with an incredible 30-4 record including a win over RMK and TT.  I remember that search well and never remember hearing his name mentioned as a candidate.  We needed more proof, which is reasonable, except when you have a "good" coach as Crean was who has up and down years the timing for replacing him with Stevens (after we got more proof) is dependent on down year timing.

I am not suggesting McCollum is the next Stevens at all.  I would swing away at the real Stevens, Few, TJ, Oats and May but if you miss on those guys then in the next tier, I am definitely talking to him along with some others.  If I talked with him I would need to him to convince me he has the basketball acumen to win, the personality to interact with players, alum and boosters and the drive/grind to succeed.  Those things you cannot see from a coach during a game but are crucial to success at this level.  Why someone thought Archie had those is beyond me.

The only real thing I’ve learned on this thread, during this coaching search and the last one, is that a lot more private planes fly from the Boston area to Indy/Bloomington than I would have guessed.

How else did you think Stuhoo spends his very generous NIL from BTB? Why make coffee at home when you can jet set to Boston!

Chris Beard circle jerk back on the menu today I see.

We've got like 40ish days to go, so we will be rotating daily through the candidates. Mondays are the Beard special.

It's going to be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong few weeks.

I prefer these weeks compared to the weeks of "start of the season until now", personally.

Listening to posters whine every time there is a subject being discussed they don't like is more annoying than repeated information, though.

Just to pile on here, the dental assistant where I go to the dentist here in Evansville has a cousin married to Dusty May, and my dentist is a very small time donor from what I can tell and went to IU Dental school with a son who was on the IU baseball team.  That being said, she didn't have any information from her cousin on any family plans to move back to the Bloomington area.  My dentist didn't have any information either as I asked him just before he shot me full of Novocain before the "small" cavity he was fixing.  I tried to find out some information for the group.

Giving a yourself a cavity to try to pry information from Dusty May's cousin's wife while she was jamming tools in your mouth is dedication.

Kudos.

It's hard to figure out which coach will blow up and be awesome, and it can be risky, but that's what a great AD can do...
