Speaking of Holtman, he is doing a nice job in his first year at Depaul.  Wouldn't be surprised if he has them competitive in the Big East in a couple years.  Seems like a good fit for him.

I mean maybe you are a d1 coach and know your **** but he sure as hell gets a lot of praise from guys that are making everyone coaching search list. I hate it so much. I guess I like the youth and passion and winning.  The transition will be brutal for him.  Indiana brand and money doesn’t even have pull anymore.  Damn. Sad day for me. That loss then this news.  Even Dolson treats it as a low P5 job.

He’s one of the premier midmajor candidates lmao. It’s proof that we are still relevant. If we weren’t, the biggest / hottest names at that level would not want to come here. It’s far less likely, and happens far less frequently, that big names jump to other programs when they are successful. Stop wallowing. Start enjoying.

I will trust Dolson but this is an incredible risk. Arguably the riskiest hire of all. Going from D2 to Indiana in 1 year is no small feat. I admit, I hope this is a smokescreen…and if we do indeed hire McCollum…it’s a gut punch in terms of how coaches look at Indiana. We aren’t as wanted as we seem to think. Sampson, Crean and even Archie were regarded as top of the line coaches…Woodson was just a brain fart hire. This is odd.

If it is Mccollum, I will still root like hell and support the program.

But I will go on record that I am not sold. Humbling hire IMO. 

He will have all the resources and chance to prove a lot of us wrong. Which will be welcomed.

A guy who wins like THAT … WANTS to be HERE? That’s where we are as a program. We should all be thrilled he does. Guess he’s not so scared of the fish bowl. He wins big time and is from the Midwest, yall really don’t think he understands this will be a challenge? I’m excited a guy like him wants to take it on. I know it’s a lower level than IU and it may not translate, but the McCollum definitely wins wherever he has been. Dolson will need to surround him with a great bench and GM to help with the learning curve.
