This is going to be Dolson's legacy hire.  I don't know who it's going to be but I'm confident that it's going to be someone who Scott absolutely believes will not tarnish the university, can recruit at the level we need, can consistently compete on the national stage, can withstand the fishbowl of IU and most importantly win.

....one of your best post! Here, Here!

People can't post info here?? Like, someone from the twitterverse? Or words on the street??  But yes, do the message board purpose, the same messaging over and over and over again.

Like to certifiably Pumper you in the mouth, also, over and over again. If you talk like you message, it'd be open enough for the taking

He blocked me. He's more like a rainy day.

I understand what there is to like about McCollum but it feels like a huge risk and this hire cannot withstand a potentially risky option. It needs to be a sure thing that will bring the fan base alot of confidence.

Who are those sure things.

It won't be Stevens,Drew,TJO or May so there are no thing as a sure thing either

I would take a chance on McCollum over guys like Beard, Wade,Collins or Brownell

Kelsey and Pope were underwhelming hires at Louisville and Kentucky, and look how those have turned out.

Kentucky fans in particular were swearing off the program because they couldn't believe that Danny Hurley didn't leave his repeat-national title program for Lexington.

Kentucky finished 6th in the SEC. That’s worse than every Calipari year except for one. I think Pope is enjoying a nice honeymoon phase. He’ll probably need to make a run this year or compete in the SEC next year or their fans will start to get restless.

If McCollum came in to IU next year and finished 6th we’d all be happy temporarily. But he’d have to start producing real results pretty soon after.

No, hes not. Don't kid yourself. He's not leaving a cushy job leading one of the NBAs top teams until retirement to go to IU and rebuild this program

Agreed! It's interesting how me asking about Scott Drew is absurd and never an option, but Brad Stevens is not.

You're probably right. If not for the folks on this board and elsewhere who seem pretty connected, I would have zero hope for Stevens at this juncture. And even then that hope is likely misplaced.

However for my own sanity I'm letting myself believe, because the last 20+ years of Indiana basketball have been absolute misery, aside from a few rays of sunshine peeking through the clouds from time to time.

I will switch back to pessimism when I feel all hope is gone. But I'm not there yet.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but for me it's using him as a reference and reliable source of information. He's not reliable and his information is basic. I am not bashing Rabby as much as I am pointing out he is not really an authority.

Personally, separate from the above, I think Rabby talks down to his audience about basketball when his specific basketball knowledge is fairly average. I believe he's overly sensitive when he is pointed out as wrong, but really was irresponsible with information in the first place. Lastly for this message, after the Hysterics came on board there is a circus and performer like attitude I think he has taken on rather than a professional journalist. I used to believe Rabby was a pro, but now he's kind of just another blogger.

Good lord you took the words out of my brain.  Must not be just me.

6th in the Big Ten would be Indiana's second-best conference finish since 2016 and an immediate improvement. To be fair.

I'm right there with you.

I feel like the only media attention this program gets is negative. And for once in my lifetime, I wanted to see them make a shock and awe hire that brings respect back. And because of that, I have been hoping for Stevens.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE it if Stevens were coming. However, like @Ghost of Rick Majerus stated, it makes no logical sense for IU to employ a search firm if he were already the guy. Odds are that he was out when Goodman first posted about it.

Not sure if he did me, if so it was after he messaged me lol.

I hope not, I'm dying to hear his opinion of McCollum I guess he hasn't done yet. I'm certain he can add more about him that hasn't been provided already.

I'm just saying, yeah let's speculate who's a candidate, maybe some close to program or insider shares a social media or whatever. Then we can do that. But man at this point what else can be said until the proverbial leaks do happen

Not that anybody cares what I think, but I am off the Stevens train. It was fun while it lasted for me but the logic is no longer there. I guess it's good news in that I won't be disappointed later when they don't hire him.

I was fully on board when Trilly and others weren't hearing that IU has reached out to anybody. BUT...now there is a search firm involved that is vetting candidates. Why would you do that if you had "your guy"?

Do not get me wrong, I am perfectly fine with the search firm and vetting, and I firmly believe that will get the right guy. But, why would you go through all that if Stevens is the guy? It makes no logical sense.

Totally agree. This was the moment that I knew Stevens was a fairy tale.

The best "evidence" for Stevens was the silence. When we started to hear that other coaches were being contacted by IU's search firm, I knew Stevens was out.
