General Coach Candidate News

This was true 20 years ago.  Is it true today in the NIL landscape?  I legitimately don’t know.  Kentucky tried to pull Drew and were unsuccessful.  That itself is not 100% indicative.  I guess we will see if UNC and Kansas come open in the next couple of years.  I would be curious on what type of candidate they get.

I’m not sure why it wouldn’t hold true now. The haves and have nots have only increased in disparity. I guess it is possible it doesn’t. But what’s the point of getting all these big donor commitments for guaranteed NIL pools if it doesn’t help you land the coach you want?

Even the guys down the list are P5 guys…McD, Brownell, Devries… so if those guys are out because we can’t pull P5 coaches anymore (nvmnd the fact that when anyone asks about McCasland, everyone just assumes he’s Texas bound), then we are truly down to a world where McCollum is the leader in the clubhouse.

I’m right there with ya but he’s a Chicago guy , and just making the tourney is extension / raise worthy season at NW . I would guess he’s pretty happy being at home with little to no expectations.

but yes I think with IUs resources he would kill especially as I’ve said before recruiting the state of Indiana he’s already found a couple of gems (Barnhizer , McIntosh, and now Windham )

With zero resources and playing the second half of conference without two of his best three players, it’s a victory that they made the BTT.

We sports fans are a weird bunch. We all have candidates we like and would like to see hired and we spend hours trying to make others see what we see. I like McCollum and would like to see him hired so why do I care if others don't like him. Why do we try to justify our opinions and try to change others mind because im the end none of it matters. IU will hire a coach who they feel is the best fit to coach IU. All of us will have a choice after the hire the next coach. You can either support the choice or find another team to follow.

At this point if we can't get a big name I would rather take McCollum rather than hire someone like Brownell.

Exactly. If we’re gonna hire Brownell or someone like him, we might as well just keep Woodson.

All the proof you need is the hires from blue bloods the last few years to see that top coaches aren't leaving their current jobs for another job.

UCONN Hurley Rhode Island

UK Pope BYU

UL Kelsey C of C

UNC Davis Assistant coach

Duke Shchyer Assistant Coach

UCLA Cronin UC

So without reading the last 40 pages. Is it safe to assume this search is not going well?

I wouldn't make that assumption, no.

We just got a kick in the nuts from our resident hater, Jeff Goodman.

No. It shows that some people think what they read in social media is accurate. It may be. But that’s not something I’m assuming.

I bet Dolson did.  I posted weeks ago, I think he rounded up support & big $$ & thought he’d get his man, thus all of the posts from Jerry, RTZ, Chris, etc.  But he missed again & a bunch of the people that were sharing info early on were counting their money still sitting at the table so to speak, & now he’s trying to push Beard because he’s proper screwed.  Just conjecture though.
So now twice we had stevens until we didnt? And with may not coming we are down to option three whoever that is
