To me if we see him starting next year that is not a great sign for us to be a great team. On a great team he should be coming off the bench as your 7-8 guy. We just have to upgrade positions 2-4 because last year that was this teams down fall. If we don't upgrade those position from last year then we won't be as good as last year. I was just getting ready to post something similar. I'm not against him starting if he improves offensively and can average more like 10-12 ppg., but I like him coming off the bench to provide a spark. Chris007 and bird4par 2 Quote

dwtaylor1055 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 maybe we start Ledlum, Malik and Ware. Doesn't mean we wont see rotations start early to create mis matches. Bring Malik out early, let Ware be the sole big on the floor and when Malik returns, Ware gets a breather. Quote

Chris Ledlum is a 3 in P5 basketball. He can play with the ball in his hands, move laterally, and get to the rim better than our 3 the last two years, MK, will have been able to. He needs to be a threat from three point range; that will be the challenge for him this summer. I agree with this 100%. Look at who palyed the 3 all year last year, MK. MK was one dimensional at best. Ledlum brings more to the table than MK did. He's more athletic, better handles, stronger finisher, obviously not the same percentage shooter from deep but I think he can improve it from last year. He also has a high basketball IQ which will lead to solid defense. Same as MK. Ngw7183 1 Quote

Haven’t seen Ledlum up close, haven’t heard anything to this effect, but I wonder if he commits to IU if they might have him cut a little weight. He was a 4 at Harvard, played some minutes as a small-ball 5 even. At IU it seems clear he’s a fit at the 3, sliding into some minutes at the 4. Quote

One thing I like about potentially bringing him off the bench if IU gets its wishlist: he could sub anyone out, either to play the 1, 2, or 3, or to sit down a big and slide some guys up the positional spectrum. rcbowla and Chris007 2 Quote

He should not be coming off the bench for a team that needs quickness, perimeter D, and someone to create for others. Him improving in the off season is the upgrade. He would have to improve a lot for me to want him in the starting lineup. He is to limited on the offensive end where it is just a catch and shoot from 3 or a floater. He isn't capable as of right now to create a shot for himself. You can't have him have the ball at the end of the clock and expect him to hit a tough pull up jumper. To me with how hard he plays it is better to have him play less minutes so he can play all out every second he is on the court. Every good team needs a guy who comes off the bench to energizes the team. Chris007, GoIU8 and bird4par 3 Quote

He for sure needs to get that three point percentage up. Quote

He would be the first off the bench and would give IU the best 6th man in the conference, probably by a good margin. Galloway has also been steadily improving season to season. No reason to think that doesn't happen again since he obviously puts in the work. thebigweave, BannerVille, AZ Hoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

Then Sparks for Malik and Deloach for Ware. You lose some 3p threat at the time but D is solid and still have a post with a guy who can pick and roll, slash/drive, etc I know you think DeLoach is still possible here but I would be very surprised if we see him on campus this weekend. thebigweave, bigrod, BannerVille and 2 others 5 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 You can not stress enough what having a big who shoots even 30% can do for your team offensively if they are capable of getting to the rim as well. Ledlum and Ware both can. Race Thompson couldn’t. Even if Race shot 30% from deep, no one was worried about him cutting to the hoop. He was a post up or pop guy only.
