Wesley Yates from Washington enters.  6'4" combo guard, ranked 53rd in class of 2023.  Missed his freshman year due to injury.

Cedric Coward, Eastern Washington enters the portal.  6'6" forward.  One of the most efficient scorers in D1, shot 57% overall, 38% from three, and 90% on free throws.  Effective shooting percentage of 64% and took a significant amount of threes (51 of 133).  Averaged 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

His brother is currently a sophomore at Notre Dame. Supposedly the motivation for his transfer is to be closer to his daughter in Indy.

Penn’s Clark Staljchert, whom IU contacted, has committed to USC.  Not a surprise, he’s from LA and his cut list was almost exclusively west coast,

Arterio Morris in the portal.  Played his freshman year at Texas, transferrred to Kansas but then was removed from the team pending rape charges.  Charges have been dismissed now.

Ethan Morton enters the portal - wonder if Archie has him on speed dial?  Trevor Andershock indicates Morton's unofficially been in the portal since last fall.  Also Trevor indicates there have been rumors of a few other PUke departures.   IMO would have to think maybe Caleb Furst would leave although I think his younger brother has committed to PUke so that could make a difference if I'm right on that point.

Trevor said on Peegs that the rumor is Kaufmann would enter but he said we'll see if that happens

Caleb's younger brother was a walk-on freshman this past season who apparently only logged one minute.  Was on Matt Roth's state title team at Blackhawk the year before.  I assume Caleb is a strong candidate to portal out of PUke given how his role diminished and they need at least one underclassman to leave just to bring in their incoming freshman.  Berg might be a possible departure as well since they've already recruited over him with another super center.

This is just so gross. 1 of the best young coaches in the country takes a job, flips it 180 in year 1, isn’t going anywhere, and his 3 leading scorers all split. I don’t know what program building at the mid-major level is supposed to look like anymore. I’m not begrudging the players, but, Jesus, there’s got to be a better way.

As much as I hate the NCAA, they or some other org needs to kind of reinstate some rules. I thought the one free transfer was fair. Maybe no transfers until after 2 years or something. 
 

I don’t know really…but scenarios like the above one are brutal.

A player already took the NCAA to court over not getting another free transfer and was granted an injunction.  It doesn't really matter whether it is the NCAA or another organization, unless the courts rule in favor of that organization transfers are available at the end of the year.

And although it's not best for college basketball, I'm not sure that an organization should be able to block a player from transferring when students are free to move from college to college every year.  Athletic scholarships are only one year guarantees.

I believe Furst's brother is already on Purdue's roster and is a walk on.

FWIW, Purdue I believe would be over by scholarships by THREE if Edey and Gillis had decided to use their covid years.  Edey already announced that he would be going into the draft, but Gillis came back they are already two over the limit so if Morton and Furst were to both go into the portal, they still would currently be full if Gillis came back.  FWIW, Purdue message boards pretty much believe that Gillis will not be coming back.
