NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

If we pull Sparks, Ware, Ledlum, and Knecht from the portal, the last scholly can be used on Grant Gelon's younger brother for all I care.

Kidding aside, I would fully expect that the staff has the satisfaction of all current players in mind when they make an addition. If they have a role in mind for Gunn and/or Banks, they're well-tuned into not screwing that up.

I didn't know Grant had a younger brother. Hopefully Crean can get a job soon to offer him a scholly.

It's a good question, and I think the answer should be "not especially worried."

If (and it's certainly still a big "if") we got Ware, Ledlum, and Knecht all to commit, we would have an open spot, Leal, and an injury-recovering Jakai Newton as the likely 11th, 12th, and 13th roster spots. With Gallo as the primary guard backup, that would leave Cupps as the tenth most minutes. This past year, the eighth most minutes was Malik at 14.9 mpg, and ninth most was JG at 12.4 mpg. If Banks and Gunn are the 8th/9th most minutes with the ability to pull more minutes as earned, that should be sufficient motivation to stay.

Any level of concern scaring HS commits from committing with all the transfer portal rumblings. Not sure how in tune HS players are to the transfer portal comings and goings but these transfer hub schools can't make it easy for true freshman to gain minutes, no?

It really does appear that a commitment was made and that another previously scheduled visit needs to be cancelled. The family didn't want news of the IU visit to be shared until the day of the visit so it stands to reason that the same stipulation was placed on the second school visit. I'm guessing that the family out of respect wants to quietly cancel the second visit without the school name being made public.

Thanks to all who have shared info that allows me to believe this. I'll hold off on my elation until officially announced though - just part of being a Hoosier fan.

All of your years of wisdom have given you a nice level-headed approach to IU news. I love it, I'm just not very good at it yet.

Here is my question. Are we worried about anyone else potentially leaving with this potential wave of players coming in. Guys like Gunn and Banks may be limited in minutes again.

In today's environment you obviously have to keep both in mind but you can't stop recruiting.  Don't want anyone else to leave but it's all about winning games and a coach has to make his roster as strong as he can.

Don’t forget about the Sunday morning stroll down Kirkwood.

Man, I’m one week too late! My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last weekend in Bloomington! Our daughters got us a night at the Graduate on Kirkwood last Saturday night. My wife and would have gladly been super snoopers for Hoosier Nation! We’ve stayed there about 3 times now, wonderful experience. If you ever get a chance, I would highly recommend it! To top it off, IMO, the best breakfast in Bloomington is at the Uptown on Kirkwood, hands down!

Cruising down the highway with a 70mph speed limit @ 40mph with the windows down and both hands firmly on the steering wheel @ the 10:00 o’clock and 2:00 o’clock position taking a Sunday afternoon cruise.

Clarification:  The above is a simple analogy of speed regarding most things that is IU men’s basketball in the 21st century.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think Ledlum and Knecht both have 2 years of eligibility remaining if they were to exercise the Covid year. Ware has 3 years remaining.

Lots of mention of Timberlake but he only has 1 year left if I’m understanding it. Give me the guys with multiple years.

I believe you are wrong. Ledlum & Knecht have the COVID year only. Ware does have 3.

Guys with less time remaining could free up rides for the 24 or 25 classes.

100% agree with the breakfast. My wife and I go often if we want to sit down. If you want a quick breakfast Inkwell cafe is really good and also a favorite of Miller Kopp. It's on the square next to the Tap.

Ledlum only has one I believe. He lost a year due to COVID in the Ivy League. They didn't play in 2021 think.

I will have to give it a shot. My oldest daughter swears by the Runcible Spoon for breakfast.

Mmmmm y'all talking breakfast??

Inkwell and Runcible Spoon are my go-to breakfast spots these days.  Back when I was on campus, there was a diner just a few spots to the west of Uptown, I can't remember the name.  Best biscuits and gravy in town, but they shut down.

Also you all have me refreshing this page a little too much this morning.  Real excited to see what this team will look like next year.

I believe Knecht would only have 1 year. He played 2 years of JC before his 2 yrs at Northern Colorado, And if Ware flourishes, he'll almost certainly go at the 1st opportunity.
