NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

@Chris007 is an incredibly knowledgeable poster.  Prior to the NCAA tournament in the college bball thread, we were discussing how many 'true contenders' there were for the NCAA title this year and I believe he said something along the lines of 'what are there this year?  Maybe five or six?'.  And then we ended up with a tournament that saw a 4, 4, 5, and 9 seed in the final four.  The best opinions is and always will be that....opinions.  So I don't think I would ever go so far as to call an opinion a 'truth'.

It's funny that the older I get the more I know that I don't know.  I.e........Shedrick isn't a player I'm all that into.  But one thing I do know:  my opinion on him doesn't mean anything.  Fun to talk about it on a message board and like spirited debate, but even if I'm correct that he's not that good of a player or fit currently that doesn't mean anything in terms of what happens in the future.

Ok then just let us know when we’re allowed to start talking about our roster and we’ll all come back then. Thanks!

Sounds good to me because it is ridiculous to be panicking this early in the process. Why not wait until the team comes back for the summer session and see what the roster looks like then

I just mention it because it's been a complaint by the staff. We've lost recruits because they feel like they are only being recruited by the assistants at IU. I love Woody but I know he loves his golf.

Does this apply more to HS kids or portal or both?

I see quite literally zero people “panicking” and about a hundred posts from you talking about people panicking. If we don’t land good portal pieces then we’ll probably stink, but the past two decades of IU basketball has prepared us for that.

Big one entering, at least from an upside standpoint.

Harrison Ingram, Stanford.  6'7" small forward, just completed his sophomore year.  19th rated recruit in the 2021 class.  Averaged 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists last season.

Wonder if he considers Purdue given that they were in his final list a few years ago. A talented wing like him would make them a lot better.

Anyone else get the Dogecoin dog when they click the links on Twitter now. Lol. Elon Musk is something.

Odd thing is I never get that if I’m on the actual app. I’ve noticed it all day.

It's been there the last two days.  Has to do with a lawsuit he is the defendant in for supposedly manipulating the value of dogecoin."

" this is just meant to inform, not trying to venture into politics.  To get back on track and discussion started, Maximus Nelson of Valparaiso is in the portal.  He's not a good player but his name would be a great WWE name.

This was 247's summary of him coming out of high school....definitely sounds like a Painter type of player.  That said, Purdue's NIL stinks.

An extremely versatile prospect with an old school type of pace and game, Harrison Ingram's professional projection is based upon his high IQ. He is a winner and the ultimate competitor who is one of the most intelligent prospects in the country both on and off the court. He has a bright future in every aspect of life. He is a point forward who uses savvy, skill, and intelligence to dominate games. Ingram can play on or off the ball. He plays at his own pace and is one of the better passers in the class. He is extremely deadly making plays with his back to the basket where he can score or locate shooters from any area on the floor. Despite not being a fantastic athlete, Ingram is productive on the glass and competes on the defensive end. His elite IQ and skill make him one of the best prospects in the class and is someone who will exceed his physical tools as a player and producer.

The “pushed around” line comes from watching his tape. He’s long and lanky and doesn’t finish through or punish anyone. He uses his speed and leaping ability. He seems like a good fit for Miami based on my 15 minute scout. Lol. I could be wrong, but he doesn’t look like 5 in the B1G to me.

I lurk on here a lot but don't really comment to much but I have a question. I could've asked it of others regarding their comments but haven't. "I could be wrong, but he doesn't look like 5 in the B1G to me." makes me wonder. B1G teams have struggled to compete in the post season for quite some time now against other teams constructed with these type of personnel. Why would that type of personnel not be successful in B1G play? The only reason that personnel would struggle in league play is because it's being officiated differently and to me that's the crux of the matter. I'm sick of the tournament struggles. I'd like to see Woodson and staff put together a team of long, athletic, skilled players that play a fun style. Take their lumps in league play and then excel in the tournament.

When it’s been filled/completed.  It’s seems like a lot of people are getting impatient and seemed to be panicking and thinking that our roster needs to be completed yesterday or we will have a horrible year.  Like someone said, Kansas State only had two players on their roster on July 1st and they went to the elite 8.  Let’s be patient and let CMW do his thing and recruit these players and get the best player to fit his style of play

Don't know if it's been mentioned earlier:

Tylor Perry, North Texas , 5'11" guard.  17.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.1 apg.  44/41/87 shooter.  If you've seen North Texas play, averaging 17 ppg is like averaging 20+ other places because of how slow their pace is.  Would not be surprised to see him follow his coach to Texas Tech.
