The University of Maryland is closer to DeMatha High School (Hyattsville, Maryland) than Georgetown..".right down the block from DeMatha."  Georgetown is starting from scratch after the Patrick Ewing debacle whereas Maryland has good players coming back from a successful first season under Kevin Willard (but no natural center). Transfer players don't necessarily transfer to schools they considered in high school which is what these commentators suggest.

Maryland has me concerned overall. They seem to have nice momentum going and that’s the last thing we need in the DMV. Fortunately lots of other teams in the region who’ve been down are hot schools with new coaches so more competition at least. Maryland has the cash to be a problem overall, and we don’t need anymore top end challengers in the B1 G.

Teams’ talent levels rise and fall.

Maryland and Rutgers seem to be rising, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State seem to be falling.

And who knows? If Maryland gets Dickinson, it could flop. Young, Dickinson and Reece sounds like a great group, but how well do Reece and Dickinson play together? How does that work offensively.

You just never know. Remember that Maryland team that had Trimble, Stone, the Suluiman (sp?) and Layman? They were really good with Layman at the 4 and that core group.

The next year they added that transfer at the 4, I think from Georgia Tech maybe? But, that pushed Layman to the wing, taking away his advantage of being defended by 4's the previous season, and the transfer 4 and Stone didn't really mesh.

They had a decent season, but weren't close to being National Title contenders that they were touted to be.

Long story, short, the pieces don't always fit.

Well the thing about Dickinson is that he can shoot from the perimeter. So that helps spacing wise for anyone.. but he could be looking to get out of the B1G entirely. And if he's tired of the mauling.. I don't see how going to another B1G school or even a Big East school would make sense.

Agree. Just saying if he did go to Maryland, while certainly a great pull for Willard, you never know how the pieces are going to actually fit together.

While Dickinson can hit 3's, he's still best around the paint, same with Reece, and how does that impact Young's ability to penetrate.

I'd be surprised if Dickinson stays in the Big Ten too though.

For Dickinson to transfer out something more behind the scenes had to have happened during the season for him to transfer out I'm not sure what but that's just my guess almost kind of like when Joey Hauser and his brother transferred out of Marquette.

I would guess that the Hauser boys left because of Markus Howard chucking up 30 shots a game.

Maybe Dickinson didn't like Jett?

Maybe it’s just:

$$$$$$$$$$$$

Jett’s gone, and Juwan gave HD a glowing review out the door he didn’t have to, unprompted. Seems to me he wants $, which may come easier away from UM, and to win, which probably has a better chance of happening elsewhere next year. Maybe bring closer to home matters, we’ll see.

Wonder if Nimari Burnett has any regret.

HD was on one great team, but it had 3 wings/fwds who’ve started NBA games (one of whom was a lottery pick who should’ve gone higher), plus two really good senior guards. Kentucky or Maryland can put a winner around him…not sure Syracuse or Georgetown can in ‘23-24

My money is on Dickinson going to Duke.
