I think Ya bypassed him for Carlyle. SMH.  I just feel it has legs this time.  I think ‘staff’ has been working on some things.  Texas will Miller could be a challenge.

If this is true...what a complete and total scouting failure.

From what I hear about it, Ya had a pre-existing relationship with Carlyle which helped things move quickly. It wasn't like they chose one over the other (and there weren't only 2 options), but they got deeper in with Carlyle right away. It's also not like Carlyle hadn't produced at all as a freshman at Stanford. He was pretty good and and pretty good target for a sophomore jump. Like everyone else under the Mike Woodson program, improvement was few and far between.

Carlyle and the others would have been much better with a different coach IMO. I can see him flourishing.

Bryson Tucker still not in the portal.

Is it possible that Tucker is waiting to see what players are brought in to know what talent he will be playing with, and/or how much competition for minutes there will be?

I would have expected him to be the first one in the portal.

One thing I do know between him and Tucker DeVries it is really hard to keep up and know who people are talking about

Went to take a shower and got out and saw quite a few players from majors had entered.

Zach Clemence, Kansas, 6'9" PF.  Ranked 73rd in class of 2021.    Has had trouble getting into the rotation in Kansas.

Victorious Miller, LSU, 6'5" SG.  Freshman.  In 19 mpg averaged 8.9 pts, 2.4 reb, 1.2 assists.  Bulk three point shooter.  Shot 44/32/73.  Ranked 85th in class of 2024.

Koren Johnson, Louisville, 6'2" PG.  Only played in two games due to injury.  Should have two years of eligibility left.  Previously at Washington.  In 23-24, he averaged 11.1 points at Washington in 24 mpg.  Shot 37% from three.

John Hugley, 6'11" Center, Xavier.  Rotational player at Xavier last year, 10 mpg, 2.9 pts, 2.0 rebounds.  Was at Pittsburgh for three years (two redshirt years -- limited to 7 and 8 games in two seasons.  The one full season he played at Pitt he averaged 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds.  Played 23-24 at Oklahoma, averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.6 minutes.  Has developed an outside shot, hitting 23 of 53 three pointers over the last two seasons.

P.J. Carter, 6'4" SG, Memphis.  5.4 points in 14.4 minutes.  40/39/93

I’d be ok with Conwell, DeVries. Tucker. As a 2,3,4. Get a good PG and C and let’s roll.

Add Goode to that and we’re so set.

That’s a wish list with only 1/4 currently and quite a ways to go.

Think I’d rather have Johnathan Powell than B. Tucker — just not convinced he’s going to translate his physical tools to being a winning player, don’t think the jumper’s there and he’s not on track to bring enough else to make up for it.

Would love to be wrong, and I’m curious to see what DDv makes of him if he stays.
