ray Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I haven't read all the comments, nor will I likely get around to it. With that said, those that believe Moore is of poor quality and less capable than certain "unnamed players", please consider the fact Moore was the only player with a positive (+/-) last night. Yes, I know that doesn't tell all there is to tell, but it's at least a starting point for measuring a player's impact on a game. Yes, if Fitzner gets on a hot streak shooting again I'll be more in favor of him getting more minutes. Until then, he's not proven anything to me outside of a couple hot shooting nights early in the season that he is any better than Moore. Neither Fitzner nor Moore logged a lot of minutes last night, but with the time given to each Moore once again had more of an impact. I'm not saying Moore will become a great player with more time and experience, but I'm in agreement with some on this forum that maybe it's time he has a chance to show whether he can be or not. Anyone interested purely on a statistical standpoint would agree. Evan Fitzner Clifton Moore Games - 17 Games - 9 Player Efficiency Rating - 13.1 Player Efficiency Rating - 23.9 True Shooting Percentage - .547 True Shooting Percentage - .576 eFG% - .527 eFG% - .700 ORB% - 3.9 ORB% - 16.0 DRB% - 17.4 DRB% - 32.1 TRB% - 11.4 TRB% - 24.9 AST% - 6.4 AST% - 14.6 STL% - 1.5 STL% - 3.5 BLK% - 1.4 BLK% - 4.4 Crimson and Cream and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote

Fitzner couldn’t back down and score on Glynn Watson last night, who he has about 9 inches on. He isn’t a good defender either. His help side defense is awful. There is zero reason to play Fitzner over Moore at this point. Moore will have defensive lapses, but Fitzner gives up just as much with his lack of rebounding and bad helpside defense. Idc if Fitzner can hit 3s. He has to do it in games and outside of the Marquette and duke games, I don’t recall him hitting many at all. So he’s a complete liability on the court. Look at their bodies. Fitzner is far stronger physically than Moore is. Come on... Your other points can stand on their own, but none have to do with physical stature. I'm not telling you I think Fitzner is any good. He clearly hasn't shown he is. But...unless you think Archie is a moron, there's a reason Moore's not playing yet. Quote

If he was built like Shaq and still rebounding this way, I’d be saying the same thing. He doesn’t show that he’s strong when defending the post either. At this point, I believe Archie can’t play Fitzner moving forward. He came to possibly the worst league he could based on his skill set. I don’t think Archie is a moron at all. I just think his playing of Fitzner is a ***** in the armor, if you will. Practice is one thing, but games matter. Moore hasn’t been any worse than Fitzner has in the minutes he’s received. jonz44 1 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 That puts us at 5-4 in Big Ten play. Why would that back anyone off the ledge? We’ve beaten Penn State, Illinois and Northwestern(the 3 bottom teams in the Big Ten right now) by a total of 12 points. We’ve lost to Michigan by 11, Maryland by 3 and Nebraska by 15. Safe to say, WE ARE NOT VERY GOOD. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appThe problem is i could see us losing all three the way we are playing putting us at 3-6. Would that be ledge worthy? We will have to play awfully good to win at purdue and error free to beat Michigan.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk colonel06 1 Quote

I do hope some changes are coming. Or that Fitzner becomes the player he was early. I still don't understand why anyone had expectations of him. 5 PPG @ St. Mary's his junior year with declining numbers each season don't exactly spell "answer." VO5 and colonel06 2 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Four of the next five are on the road. One is at Michigan State which is a loss. Michigan at home is a toss up at best. We need to go 3-2 in this stretch imo. We are going to have to find a way to win at northwestern and Rutgers. We need those wins badly. I forgot at purdue which is likely loss as well.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

Personally for me no it’s not because this team was always going to make its move in February and March. A lot of winnable games later in the B1G schedule. While it wouldn’t be ideal to fall to 3-6 it’s nothing that a team cannot overcome especially with how the schedule looks at the end. Oklahoma St started Big 12 play 0-6 in 2016. They finished 9-9 and made the tourney Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Bobman1 1 Quote

We certainly won't be favored in 2 out of the next 3, so accomplishing that should somewhat offset the Nebraska loss. Plus it would very likely give us 2 more quad 1 wins. We can all agree the Nebraska game was bad and raises a lot of questions, but let's play a few more games before getting out the pitchforks. Deserthoozier 1 Quote

Would have to be perfect the rest of the way and that’s not happening. Dump the next 3 and it’s 6 straight. 6 in a row doesn’t make it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Fitzner may not be very good, but he is in the right places and can at least provide post resistance. Same can't be said for Moore right now, and a kid in the wrong place hurts the overall team. He's (Fitzner) also a decent passer and still a threat from outside, even as his slump has gone on embarassingly long. I don't agree with your last. Playing kids who aren't ready generally doesn't help them. That said, if Archie thinks a change needs to be made, a change will be made. I'm not against playing Moore a few more minutes, but I would like to see his defensive awareness improve. Did you see Moore get lost and give up the open three last night? Defense is the reason he isnt playing IMO. Quote
