Columbus Dispatch is reporting that tosu has scheduled a presser to announce Holtmann as their new coach... but sources telling the Indy Star that there is "zero chance" of that.

I think the ceiling is higher at OSU. But as you said, given the state of each program; I'd stay at Butler. Holtmann seems to have them rolling pretty well, while OSU is currently in pretty bad shape.

I wouldn't blame him though, Butler to Ohio State is still a step up.

Well, they sure fooled me! Ha!

OSU must have come back to him with a pretty sizable increase in salary.

I guess we will see if Butler can work their "next coach up" magic one more time.

My opinion is the next coach will be 1 of these 3:   Micah Shrewsberry, LaVall Jordan or Ron Nored.  I think they'll go back to someone who played within the program.

Agreed. That is what their writer for their scout site feels too. Will make for easiest transition.

Apparently it was thought he was the successor to Matta before IU hired him.

It would be no different then if in an alternate universe Brad Stevens had left Bulter to go to Illinois (instead of the NBA) and IU called him that same year.    If IU didn't at least make the call, IU fans would have been up in arms.  OSU probably felt they needed to at least ask before moving on to the next candidate.

I don't blame tOSU.  I would have been peeved at Archie if he left.

But totally expected, coming from them.

I'm glad this is out in the open. Let it be known that OSU wanted our basketball coach, and he wouldn't budge, even to what was thought to be his dream job. I'm sick of hearing OSU fans act like their basketball program is on par or a better job than ours now.

So let me get this straight. It was a horrible, inhuman thing for OSU to contact our currently employed coach (Archie), but it was OK for them to contact another currently employed coach (Holtmann)?

Yeah, OK. That makes sense.

By the way, wasn't Archie already employed when IU contacted him?

Not parallel situations. Archie had just been hired and we're in the same conference.
