Crean couldn't make the tournament with 3 NBA players on his roster.

To be fair to Crean, OG is probably the only real NBA player in that trio, and he was out for most of the Big 10 season.

To be fair I think you mean 1 NBA player and 2 d leaguers

I actually think its more like 1 nba player, 1 potential nba player and 1 d leaguer. Also can you please update your chart to reflect Bryant and JBJ's departure in your original post to start this thread?

They'll be a top 4 team in the B1G and make the NCAA tournament. I'll take that for the first year

I agree with this. I don't see us in the race for the B1G, but I don't think we'll be on the bubble either. Heck, maybe we actually have a good showing in the B1G tournament! That would be something new...

I believe Blackmon was content to get out of IU hell or high water even if it means playing in Europe or D-league (I'm not criticizing him just making an observation). In end we get exact same roster Crean would of had in Archie's first year.
All scholarships now accounted for next year and days of roster crunches, over signings and allegedly forcing people out are gone for good!

Agreed i am totally fine with this. Crean was the perfect coach for him because he could jack up shots at will and there was no accountability for anything. I doubt he wanted to buy into Miller's team concept game at all.

Haven't been on here much lately, but the JBJ news was expected. I was at open gym in Marion the other day and during Summer the Blackmons along with Zach Randolph always hold an event for the community, so the talk was JBJ felt like he didn't have a choice. The scholarship numbers hurt him and TB. Not saying Archie forced either of them, but once all 3 commits came back in the fold, this was the expected outcome, specially when Hartman decided to play another year.

Point being is, let's not attack a kid who has been through as much as he has. The injuries alone would have been enough to make a kid question whether to play the game anymore, but JBJ always came back and never gave up. He is also a month away from actually graduating in 3 years. He never got in trouble off the court and always represented us well on it. His defense wasn't the greatest, but it was fun to watch him on offense. The critics who questioned his defense also never took in consideration what ACL injury(s) do to lateral quickness.

His prospects of playing in the NBA aren't the greatest, but his ability to score will put him on someones radar and once he is, it will be up to him to make the most of it. Whether it is the D League or Euro, he made this decision because he believes in himself and I can't fault him for that. I hope he finds a way on a NBA bench and so should any IU fan. Like I said at the beginning of this, someone was gonna have to go and none of us know what happened behind the scenes, but at least now we know who will be here next year and who won't. I expect RoJo to announce soon he is coming back.

How did the scholorship numbers hurt him? He had a spot on the team.

Agreed. The other two are d league players which begs the question when you make money 25 k what does your agent get two grand?

Not sure. They get a percentage of the player's salary but I think the number varies from player to player.

Rabjohn's is trying to be a big shot. He's gone and the family is just not admitting it yet. Rabjohn's has to reports what he is told but Rothstein's report of him leaving is 100% accurate in my mind and family just didn't want it leaked yet so they are denying it. I personally will not be mad either way given Blackmon's star crossed play in time here.

I believe it also. I'm just sharing what I read. What I find funny is how easily journalists are dismissed because they write an article which differs from one's belief. This does not pertain to just basketball or this forum.

I agree but this is not a case of that. This is a case of Rabjohn's trying to get his own info out there on outside chance he is right even though it differs from everything else despite the original report probably being accurate. At least though Rabjohns is reporting what he is told (albeit probably not accurate) unlike Justin Albers who just flat out makes things up so I can't be to mad.

Yes he did, but to have his spot someone else was gonna have to leave that had a spot on the team. SOMEONE had to go. The NCAA wasn't just gonna give us an extra scholly. It was either him or RoJo or someone transfer which this late hardly happens but does, so that could have been a scenario but still.

No someone like priller or gelon would be gone. No coach is going to force jbj or rojo out. He had a spot period.

He is right about half the time. He claimed the night before crean got fired he was definitely coming back. He quickly reversed course in the morning.

I don't follow your reasoning. Why do you say this?

For one thing, JBJ was always all about............JBJ.

It was not shocking at all (to me) that the team was better the year he missed with being injured.
