Hoosier82 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Watching Northwestern tonight hoping to see Collins wizardly leading the cats to a convincing win. Seeing an offense struggle mightily against Rutgers. Wow. Northwestern currently down 3 to Rutgers in Evanston. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
theriverpilot Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Gotcha. My aunt has worked at IUPUI for the same timeframe and it is free. It was around 2010 they changed it. I thought? My cousin goes there for free. I assumed that was an IU thing cause IPFW wasn't like that. Maybe a satellite thing? Her name is Bethany Neal-Beliveau. But I know my cousin goes for free. Edit: I apologize in advance if anyone went to IUPUI and had her and had a bad experience lol. She takes Psychology seriously. Assuming that one had a chance to lure Donovan or Stevens to IU, but not until say, 2019/2020, would you consider approaching coach Knight about coming back for a one or two year contract to stabilize the program, heal the fan base, mend fences, then hand off to one of the two or more aforementioned coaches? Be nice, I'm only tossing this out for discussion. There is no way in bloody hell that this happens. RMK is gone... and he ain't never coming back. If he didn't come back for the 40th anniversary of the '76 undefeated NCAA champion team, he's just flat not coming back. Not sure I'd want him any where near our program, given his current level of immaturity, vitriol and stubbornness. And I WAS being nice. Gonna toss this right out OF the discussion. thebigweave, pumpfake and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

I see a lot of equivalents here to Tim Miles a few years ago at Nebraska. He caught fire and took Nebraska to the tournament for the first time in a while, but has not been able to maintain any semblance of success since then. A lot of IU fans got caught up in the moment and wanted us to give Tim Miles a look because of that, but lo and behold, water has found its level again out there. Obviously no two situations are the same, but making the tournament one time at Northwestern shouldn't be enough to qualify someone for the IU job. thebigweave 1 Quote
8bucks Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Yep guy might be a great coach. But I don't see the potential that some do. It was only one game. Saw parts of the win at Wisconsin but not enough to focus on Collins. A win there alone is impressive. Need to see some Dayton games but I always seem to miss those. Quote

Collins is a son of a coach from a family tree of a hall of famer and has been around the game and played the game at a high level( one advantage crean does not have , anyone else see him shoot foul shots in Maui. Yikes). Collins might be the next big coach or he might be the next to be hot and flame out. Besides a couple of candidates there is going to be risk with the next hire Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Hoosier82, ALASKA HOOSIER, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Besides Bennett, Stevens and Billy D there is going to be flaws with any of the coaches we go after. If there was a perfect candidate he is probably at a major school already or NBA. Marshall may be the closest thing to a sure thing. His sure thing just means we are good doesnt mean we would ever be great so still a lot of risk even with him. Shaka was the cant miss coach not to long ago and texas looks horrible now with 2 mcdonalds all americans in their lineup. After the top 3 Archie & Collins are my favorites.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I wouldnt call Shaka a can't miss hire before Texas. There were a lot of people saying his system was a gimmick and wouldnt translate. We are seeing now that might be true. Its only his 2nd year but its not looking good. Guys like Collins and Miller will be risks for sure. I have looked up both their defensive efficiencies for their career and they both have put up top 30 defenses multiple times. I was actually shocked to see NW have multiple top 30 defenses. I thought at best they would be 70-80, well bc they are Northwestern. Lol Id give both those guys a shot over Crean. thebigweave and Yogi's Picnic Basket 2 Quote

Does he continue to have NW looking decent or do they turn back into a pumpkin at midnight? I liked the little bit I saw of him, granted the other coach in that game was Crean. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
