No doubt in my mind the fire under CTC got incredibly hotter tonight. While not completely untrue, half of our team is practically dead. We had McRoberts and McSwain on the floor a ton at the same time. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
pumpfake Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Personally, the fact that I'm not upset at all about losing this game is a clear indicator that something needs to be done. Hopefully the person (people) that have the power also have the guts and smarts to pull the proverbial trigger. Woeful as things have been, IMO Crean has reached his peak at IU. Case closed. theriverpilot Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I don't need a home run hire. I would give Fort Wayne's coach a chance before I would let Crean get another year. I can't think of another comparison where a school gave more time and lower expectations then IU and Tom Crean. Expectations is the key word here. Georgia football fired Mark Richt after a 9-3 season because they expect more. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Yogi's Picnic Basket 1 Quote

I was shocked that they canned him for Mike Riley, but they knew that according to their standards, 9 wins/season wasn't getting them to B1G titles or BCS/CFP games. Trish Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 We lose out the rest of the way, Crean is gone. Injuries are not an excuse. I could find a better coach in Bloomington. I could probably find a better coach within a 3 mile radius of Assembly Hall. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and thebigweave 2 Quote

gfunk69 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Going into the game I could just tell that assembly hall wasn't going to be enough. I was by the band and it felt dead. Last year I was in the balcony and the game had a completely different vibe. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Solich had a better record than Pelini, played in a BCS title game, and they ran him off too. Quote

Plus he came within a play going to the NC game. Big mistake by Georgia. Crean couldn't hold Richts jock and his win loss record proves it. I get what you're saying though. Trish Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Aren't you still available for $65K? :)I'll do it for 10K and lead us into the dance. No more hand offs around the perimeter with 12 seconds left on the clock. We'll have 30 plus plays for James to get shots. Bryant wouldn't even sniff the three point line unless he's the trailing big man.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Jeff_Boy_Ardee Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 You forgot to mention those 5 stars were freshman that also lost to a 14-20 South Carolina team in the sec. so yes I did considered it a upset over the veteran undefeated shockers Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersTake that Shocker team when Van Fleet and those guys were freshman, and now imagine that team is IU under Crean and he has them for 4 years. I find it extremely hard to imagine that team makes to a Sweet 16 or FF or even make the tournament every year under Crean. IMO to respond to your NBA level talent, those guys under Crean don't get the exposure nor develop in to better players and don't get make it the NBA at all. So I think Marshall is clearly an upgrade from Crean. Is he my first choice no, would I be upset if he came, no. Though I think I remember him getting offers a few years ago from some bigger programs and he turned them down stating he liked being at WSU and didn't want to leave, which sometimes money doesn't matter when you're truly happy where you are (it's not like these guys are making minimum wage as is). Just about what we all believed his ceiling was. Creans trajectory might not be much higher. They have similar offensive game plans which is dribble dribble chuck on up.
